Rockstar has oficially cashed out as a company when it comes to giving fans anything other than a game they can sell virtual currency on. That's it. They've dropped the ball and kicked it into a Volcano in terms of keeping this game fresh to the point people would actually consider keeping it on they harddrives after the credits roll for the single player.
You've got GTA 5 to thank for that shyt, because they did a pretty bang up job with GTA 4 and RDR1 in terms of providing extra content in way of DLC that told other parts of the story from different perspectives (GTA4's triumvirate) while offering welcomed tweaks to the gameplay as well as forwarding another sub-story that made people want to revist said world (RDR1's Undead Nightmare) and enjoy it all over again.
BOTH of those DLC packs were fukking awesome, with the GTA4 one being the last actual fukk Rockstar gave in terms of doing this shyt again, 'cause after they realized that the folk that stuck around for the start of their woefully lacking in content Online world and kept at it, building the base and buying in game currency with actual cash....they took off on that and never looked back.
Now if you reading all this shyt, then note that it ties into the Online aspect of RDR2 which is...to say the least, just straight up Ass, bruh. Like unwashed asscheeks. It's a buggy, frustrating, lacking in content, mess. Try it out for yourself and form your own opinion, but there is little to nothing to do after you finish the ONE main story line you have going which is pretty short and not that exciting.
They added "Roles" that might interest you for a moment, such as the collector (Uses a metal detector to find buried items) the Trader (Hunts animals and gives them wholesale to the dude at your camp who crafts them into goods for sale) and the Moonshiner role, which had alot of promise but eventually got boiled down into baneful delivery missions that offer little to no proper payout in the grand scheme of things.
They also have a bounty hunter role, which is by far the most interesting role you can take, but that gets played out pretty quickly after you realize that you get little to nothing from completing bounties and after you've done all the Legendary Bounties (I'll admit, these had some production value put into them so they were pretty awesome when they were new) that's it. Nothing new, nothing interesting.
Even if you just wallowing in the after game like myself (Well technically I never finished the single player story, or even attempted the main story in the online, I just go out and hunt/collect money) the online portion's components don't work as they should half the time. Like for instance, you've a camp that operates as the main hub for your trader role in which you hunt animals.........and it has trouble spawning...to this day.
It dissapears, it bugs out, the whole nine. It's annoying as fukk. Plus there was a time (It's been fixed now, mostly) when Rockstar just straight up made Animals less and less abundant to the point where you could go a whole hour or two of actual playing and not meet ONE fukking deer or rabbit....all while you trying to do a role that requires animals.
Dude....I could go on forever about this shyt since I play this game daily (Well actually I log in to do a daily challenge to keep my gold counter streak going, but I've lost the streak and it makes me not want to even bother with this shyt) but I say you pop on for a bit, see how it is and then decide. It's way better with folk running beside you, if not just to protect you from people looking to run up on you and shoot you for no reason, because that's another aspect you've got to deal with. Folk killing you and looking to ruin your shyt.
Eh.
