Just some thoughts based on about an hour of gameplay:
The scenery is beautiful but the character models in game look stiff :dame: . The face animations are good but have some work before reaching Naughty Dog levels of realism. (Just something I look for when people make claims about this game being the best looking game they've ever played.)

Arthur definitely moves a bit on the heavy side. I can see why people talk about "tank controls". Can't knock it too much because aside from the slower pace, the game controls like pretty much every other rockstar game.

The gun play is very satisfying. Reload animations are great and hitting R1 twice with the lever action rifle was odd for a split second but it works well.

Pacing of the game overall is slow. The story is taking a bit longer to establish itself than I would like but I'm OK with it so far.

The sound design needs a little bit of work. On my 7.1 system, voices just a few feet away from my character are very difficult to hear. I'm going to do a bit more tweaking in the settings to see if I can get it to sound better. When we were looking for Jon in the distance the sound was great but a lot of the conversations on horse back have been harder to understand than they need to be.

Not necessarily reload. An actual reload is with O.
The difference is you have to hit the button twice on single action weapons. There's a button press for each action: Shoot > Cock the hammer back > Shoot again
To be clear, while shoulder aiming (L2) with the lever action, you hit R2 once to pull the trigger, then R2 to drop the lever and rack the next bullet. Then you hit R2 again to fire the next bullet.
Or if you want to rapid fire you can do so from the hip. Just tap R2 fast. You can do the same thing with the hand guns.
But yeah, the rifle doesn't shoot a bullet with every button press. They made it so you have to go through the motions of bringing the next bullet into the chamber. It was weird for a second but works really well and adds to the sense of realism they were going for.
