I'm thinking teaching is the way to go.

Be a teacher and have off every summer and still get paid

travel in summer or just get racked up

IDK, Im 24, plenty of time to decide :king:

If you're a black male, now is good as any time to go into teaching.

I don't think I could ever NOT work, at least something. shyt, even with lottery money I'd still find something to do part time eventually.

let me tell you something. THERE IS NO EASY WAY OUT IN THIS WORLD!! if you want that lifestyle then give up a lot of your material possessions and leave meagerly. If everyone could make decent bread and have a good car, good insurance, and no worries don't you think they'd do it?

you're a writer right? go right some shyt. write a screenplay about a 20 something year old trying to find himself in this new world. hell write a book. there's obviously an audience of folks who can relate[/CENTER]

This is all based on YOUR belief. People who believe what you do, act accordingly.
Other people don't choose to believe so and they act accordingly.

I'm not saying everyone can quit their job move to Cali or NY and become a movie star. But many ppl have, and what if they never got the balls to do so? What if they believed the gloom and doom that you're projecting based on your belief? Where would the great chefs and restaurants or musicians be if they chose to just get an office job, or stay in an office job?

If ur heart tells you to work 9-6 in an office every day and you love it, great for you. But that doesnt mean that other peoples alternative arent also hard work.

For the most part, the world u create is up to you.

do you know how hard a good teaching gig is to come by? do you kno that they dont want teachers to get tenure so they're CUTTING teaching jobs rapidly?

elaborate.

people still can make it without living this wack ass 9-5 life.

I think Imma get outta debt, then get a random office job in a new city every 2 years :win:

Thats cool, I'm just saying cats be 25-26 years whining about having to "work" and why can't I just chill.

My parents were gone by time I was 21 so maybe its different because I didn't have that option of going back home to "find myself" or go travel.

You can work and still enjoy yourself. Some of the best times of my life has been on trips my job sent me on. I work hard but once I get off I'm :smoker: daily, I hang out with my friends and get throwed and still go to concerts and comedy shows.

The difference is that I don't have no student loans, I already got a house and my Car is paid for and thats cause while all my friends were traveling, hanging out every night, and working bullshyt jobs while staying with their parents. I was working soild jobs, getting promotions and building my resume.

I hope don't have to work for the rest of my life but I can't worry about "when I'm 65" cause who knows if I see 65. I'm just trying to appreciate the shyt I got now rather than bytching and moaning about what I don't have and what I'm not doing..

Cosign fully. Lost my mom at 18 during my first semester in college. BS'd around for another year or so and said eff it. Hustled my way into a good job, grinded, bought my first house at 21. Kept hustling, picked up a wife and kids along the way, bought a second house a couple years ago. I'm a Officer of the Bank I work for now make great $$, have 5 weeks of paid vacation and 2 weeks of sick time. That's enough time for me to travel. :yeshrug:

i hear ya and all that, but talk to the numerous people who moved to NY for a dream and are broke and miserable.

any way, that wasn't my point. i was just telling the OP to do some research before he thinks teaching is going to solve all his problems. i know A LOT of miserable teachers. both at grade school and university level

one alternative is to live a frugal life and invest money wisely. you could accumulate enough wealth in a few decades to retire early.

I agree. That's what I'm striving to do.

But it's hard for young black men to grasp this concept. Many of us are so used to hustling, trying to impress the world and living above/beyond our means.
