I guess the definition of classic has changed over the past decade. I thought a classic was suppose to have an impact on hip hop?

In what way are Take Care, Life is Good and the Documentary classics? OB4CL2? :what:

Someone tell me what a classic is please.

With that said, the answer to the question is probably Common's Be album.

Take Care- it's an album where the music actually had an imact and an influence. A lot of albums especially post '04 have been mostly hype w/ forgettable music. This album had artists re-making covers of the songs and even the non-singles were inescapable.

Life Is Good- This one is more pending as it is just over a month old. It's rare to see a legend performing at this level at this point in their career.

Documentary- Besides Snoop, nobody's album from the West was poppin' like this since Dre's 2001. There was kind of a resurgence from the West on a mainstream level after this album. Cube came back after a six year hiatus. E-40 struck gold w/ Ghetto Report Card. Dogg Pound also dropped a new album, and Daz dropped a solo. All of this came in mid- 2006 after the Documentary's success.

dawg,...

none of these records were classic at all.

first off you got to write your damn records yourself.
to get a classic, first off.
next, no record with throwaways of simp'n and summers that did not smash shyt will ever be a classic.

ain't no love ho,...fukk outta here....

A lot of albums named classic nowadays are just dope ass albums with some classic songs. To make a classic album means u have one that u can put on ten years from now and it still sounds fresh. Not saying every track has to be perfect but they should be damn close if it's getting classic status. But with that said i do think Life Is Good is headed towards that classic rating. I'm still bumping this joint hard 2 months later.
