They're insecure, filled with shortcomings, and rather than take responsibility and accountability for their actions, they'd rather put it on everyone else not like them. Their common unifiers are white supremacy, preserving patriarchy, western civilization, and authoritarianism. They couldn't handle the impact of a black man being in the White House for 8 years and it emasculated them and Trump is end result. They rally behind him because they're desperate. They want the old America back where they could harm, abuse, and discriminate against ethnic and racial minorities and maintain dominance over them. They want to parrot their racism under the veil of "free speech" and "freedom of thought" without dealing with the consequences of them. They hide behind internet avatars and figureheads because most are still rendered powerless to do the things they want to do. They can't handle left-wing politics because it empowers non-whites so they embrace the right which has facilitated a platform in modern times that hinders their progress.
TL:DR, white fear, fragility, and insecurity is a motherfukker. They can't handle possibly losing their privilege, power, and status. It trickles down to the average white person. The internet just does a fukking great job of displaying & ultimately amplifying the hive mind behind the thought processes. If they can cling on to any element that preserves the status quo, even the most extreme elements (facism, totalitarianism, authoritarianism, white supremacy, white nationalism, eugenics, anti-immigration policies, deportation, tax cuts, collusion with Russian oligarchs, etc) they will cling on to it for dear life. Even if it fukks them over in the process.
The way the paint "SJWs" as oppressors is merely them not wanting any sort of opposition to their bullshyt and ultimately destructive ideologies, which should honestly be shamed out of existence.
