Everything since have just been rank amateurs. Back in the Napster heydays ('99 and '00), there wasn't ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING, that you couldn't find on Napster. I'm talking rare radio edits, singles with a vocal or two changed, rare b-sides, retail maxi singles, and oddball shyt like the "Barney and Friends Orgy" which I've never been able to locate since.

*types in song, gets thousands of results* :ahh:

Just imagine if Napster made that transition to movies, apps and games. :wow: I'm glad the fukking music industry crashed after they crippled Napster. The artists were speaking out against it, talking about it cutting into their profits and now the whole industry is fukked. Record sales are :scusthov:

We don't eat, you don't eat fukkers. :pacspit:

The internet pre 2006 was an amazing place. RIP Napster. :to:

Yeah, I remember before Napster I would see songs like 'Blaze a 50', and 'Drunk By Myself' on lyrics site, like ohhla, and I would think I would never be able to hear them. I didn't have Napster, for whatever reason until like mid 2000, so I was always commissioning people to make me cd's. In 9th grade the dude who turned out to be my best friend for the last 10 years, I had him make me a mix, with a bunch of tracks like 'Between Me and You' remix, unreleased Shyne stuff, '4 Da Fam' for 5$, and he did it on a dial up lol, said it took like a week. It's hard to find stuff now, but there are benefits too, whole albums, quicker speeds, but yeah, I'd still use Napster tonight.

Word, nothing like clicking on that MP3 only for it to be in fact a virus you self installed.

:stopitslime:

You were doing it wrong. I'm not talking about the days where Napster was under attack and the RIAA was planting fake songs, people had to name songs obscure shyt to get around the filters and going to virus infested Kazaa. I'm talking when you could go to Napster and take what you wanted. It was a warehouse of infinite music. With great speeds too and no need to install downloaders and toolbars :comeon:

I got DSL right around the time the RIAA got serious about taking down Napster. I got maybe two or three weeks of pure, unrestricted downloading. A song went from taking 15-20 minutes (which was actually GOOD) to taking three minutes. A young nikka was like  at those speeds. 125kbps!

Nowadays I'd die if I had to deal with those speeds.

Yeah man you would have had to live through Napster to know how revolutionary that was.......

probably one of the greatest musical time periods was downloading from napster and burning music unto CDs

I got so much piff off there I thought I'd never hear again. The closest I've gotten to that since was YouTube, before Google got serious about the copyright shyt.
