There's a way to back artists whose team you're a part of on message boards - the way you do so isn't that way. Your exaggerated predictions, hyperbolic praise, and grasping for straws only makes your opinion less valuable to everyone who reads it. There are Big Sean haters here anyway, but most of the Big Sean hate threads directly stem from the things that you've said. Just be honest and realistic man. I'm a big Big Sean fan too, but just show more prudence with what you post. Give props, and be optimistic, but don't BS. When you do, Sean isn't benefiting from what you say here.

No hate, just trying to help.

Anyway...
I thought Cole's album was boring too. I can't say it's a bad album, because it isn't - solid rhymes, solid beats. I thought for as good as it was though, that it was too predictable. Didn't stick for me. He found a way to connect to his fans though, so I'll definitely give him that. :salute:

Big Sean's album was a lot more adventurous to me in terms of the production, and in terms of his approaches to songs. He could've been more lyrical miracle at points, but he chose to use a straightforward approach - something that would definitely turn off a certain fan base. I still liked the album a lot. I don't get how people say they don't know who he is, because I think his personality is actually really clear. His music is based on motivation/dream-chasing, having fun, and being introspective about the relationships he values and who he has been before, after and during fame. I can see the dislikes about his voice/demeanor, but that's the only issue I can see honestly. Dude has great production, great flow, and dope overall songmaking skills. I can see where he learned from Ye on Graduation

After speaking to my homie, he's pointed out that Hall of Fame suffers by not having enough true crossover singles, too. Finally Famous had A$$, My Last, and Marvin & Chardonnay - three songs that work perfectly on radio and in the clubs. HOF's true weakness is that it has songs that work well in either of those environments, but not on both. MILF is going to bang in clubs, but it'd really get neutered for radio. Ashley would be a dope radio song, but not upbeat enough for consistent clubs. 10 2 10 is a dope club joint production-wise, but his voice doesn't carry it. Mona Lisa could be decent for both, but it's not a knock out blow for either. Those are mostly dope songs, but they aren't undeniable like FF's singles were.

All that considered, Beware was the best choice, at least it has the singalong factor going for it. It's actually a real grower of a song, which is why I can see it getting better on the radio week after week. But there aren't really any all-around hits on the album - just songs that work in one environment more than the other. It's really weird to me that Guap didn't blow up, I thought that would've been perfect.

So yeah, I think it's a great album, with strong album tracks and quality from top to bottom. But it has a lack of really big singles

most hate starts off with "his voice just bothers me! :scusthov: "

there were only 3 songs on the standard version that were blatant club tracks. most of the others were him trying to tell you about himself, his values, etc. but people hear what they wanna hear i guess :manny:

You should stop comparing Big Sean to Cole breh, you're not doing yourself any favours, they in a different league entirely. Also Born Sinner is sitting at 71 on Metacritic, Hall Of Fame is on 73, so how is Cole getting "horrible reviews" when Big Sean is "Critically Acclaimed"?? Get in the real world b.

Big Sean is Tyga, Future and Tyler status right now, he's on the 3rd level.

thats a good point, i already mentioned how these tracks were of lower quality than his usual bangers. 10 2 10 was fine to me except for the adrenalineeeee parts. i got what he was trying to go for with the track though

mona lisa is rumored to be a potential single but im like how would that even be edited for the radio. plus the hook is too much of a toss up to be liked by a majority of listeners i think. dudes might be down with it but we know girls run the radio and club now and i know some would be like "naw i aint tryna have no three some turn dis off"

and milf same thing on the radio edits and nickis verse is kinda :scusthov: type cringeworthy to me. sean had good verses though that were funny and went well with the story

i think ashley is probably the only true power single on the album and i've been saying this alot but i think world ablaze could potentially be a big song for him too

Just realized I forgot "You Don't Know." That song would be perfect for radio and for clubs. They should've dropped that instead of Fire or 10 2 10

Yeah, but voice is much more subjective than skill. So if someone dislikes a rapper's voice, I understand that.
