...That said, I think you have to have thick skin on a hiphop board. Maybe we could make more of an effort not to drive away people with opposing views, but it's just in our nature to talk a lot of shyt to each other whether it's about politics or anything else. I don't see anybody that's easily offended lasting too long around these parts regardless.

I'm Republican and an ex-cop. I see a lot of hate. I can handle it. There's good sports talk in the sports and gym section.
Higher learning has a high volume of liberal/Democratic supporters so I can expect the haterade.

Over the years? Sure a few times maybe. That's not my style in general though. I'm not a christian but you don't see me on here making threads insulting christians an using incendiary language in an effort to stoke their anger. I think Christianity is illogical and I'll make my case as to why in a thread if necessary but I don't deliberately go out of my way to offend people or disrespect what they consider to be sacred.

Nah it was more a commentary on teaching kids to spend money wisely and how i all but shot myself in the foot. Ironically my daughter still was on that damn thing and my two boys try from time to time, lose, and get back on "the right track" in terms of spending.

as a father i'll be disappointed in myself if they turn out to be fuk ups, but i also understand that people will be people and I can only do so much, at some point they will be in charge of their own lives, the way I view it i have 10-18 years to really equip them for the world, morality, human nature. What they do with those tools or whatever tools they develop after that is really on them. It's scary but after already raising an 19 year old that's where i'm at

it has evolved over time, my understanding of my parental role, so i'm sure it'll change.

It'd be cool to actually have posters on here giving legitimate arguments in favor of right-wing policies. Might be interesting to have a legit debate with a right-winger that actually has rational arguments (if there are such people). The closest thing we have on here would be complaints about Obama (or other Democrats), but we don't have many posters actually advocating for conservative policies. I'd be interested in hearing the intellectual arguments for things like neocon foreign policy, lower taxes for the wealthy, etc.

It seems like just about all of the (few) right wing posters on here are either trolls, paranoid conspiracy theorists, adhominem-ers ("You're a lazy bum that wants to leech off the government!") or people that just repeat what they heard on FOX News last night.

If anybody here posts on other boards with more serious conservatives they should invite them here

let me answer the question for you.

the reason why there are NON on this board or any other board. is because atleast on their economic ideas. they are WRONG. its already been proven. we had 8 years with a demo prez. SURPLUS, 8 years with a repub prez, DEFICIT. 4 years with a demo prez playing cleanup behind the last repub. you're finally seeing a hint of growth again.

repub policies only work for the rich and wealthy. they do not work in favor of the middle class, poor like you and i.

so there is nothing to talk about when it comes to that.

the one thing they have on their side is the morality issues of abortion and anti gay marriage -pro family values. even their idea of foreign policy is incorrect, or has been the past few times they've been in office.

again there's nothing to discuss. unless they are talking about morality issues. and they cant talk about that pro life stuff to hard. because they are also a lot of times in favor of the death penalty even though we've known that it doesnt curtail crime, and there are way to many innocent people going up on death row. and people not being set free not because the new DNA evidence isnt there. but because they dont want to admit guilt, nor do they want to pay the person compensation for their time in prison.

and its hard for you to be as moral as you let on. when you are okay with sending jobs overseas. thats not just an economic issue. its a human rights issue. if you wont put your business here because it cost to much to hire a legit employee and pay him/her benefits, (vacation time, sick time, 401k, and medical benefits) and pay him/her a respectable wage. then maybe you dont need to start a business or maybe you're not ready to grow your own business.

if you have to send your jobs overseas knowing that they are still using sweat shops in a lot of these places, or at minimum not giving them a respectable wage, not giving them benefits etc.

basically these companies are saying Look, i wish i could USE you up american worker. but since i cant take advantage of you and make more money off of you. then i'll rather use up some foreigner and take advantage of them instead.

so again, repubs dont really have a leg to stand on. dems aint the greatest either.

Perhaps you have a point there, but I have actually reached out to Gundam on some grown man shyt, told him I relate to some of his issues as a biracial person, and tried to put him on to some game and offered advice even as going as far as to add suggestions on specific help he may need on several occasions. as a lurker, i agree. i wish there were better discussions w/ knowledgeable people, and debates where people respectfully made you question your own opinions.

theres a libertarian site i lurk sometimes (dont necessarily agree w/ the opinions but the writing's really good) w/ a couple of amazing writers, and they have some good discussions, but its like they're preaching to the choir & its the same few people always agreeing w/ each other. it'd be a much better site if there were progressive types there, and if people weren't so thin skinned, etc. same thing here
