Real talk, how come Jordan's name isn't brought up in the GOAT shooter conversations?

Anytime these discussions are had you gne hear Ray, Steph, Reggie, Steve Nash, Kerr, Korver etc off the meatrack. But thats not fair to me, its much more to shooting than just launching 3 pointers.
The mid range shot is a jumpshot too.

You can't argue efficiency because if the data was available, you can't tell me Jordan wasn't hitting a crazy clip of his jumpshots....or at least on par with the players we defaultly(yea i made that up, wateva) herald as the best shooters.

Huh? What was that? Degree of difficulty you say?
Anybody that has ever hooped will tell you that a fadeaway jumpshot is one of the lowest percentage shots a player should be taking....yet alone a guard. And this was the staple of this mans career. Not to mention all the variations of that fadeaway.:

All jumpshots. So all technically shooting the basketball.

If you wanna still contend that Steph or Ray or whoever was/is a better shooter, thats fine with me, I just find it odd that we don't consider arguably the best mid range SHOOTER of all time a GOAT shooter. Thats just strange to me.

I consider him an all time great shooter, it's part of the whole GOAT package. But I think in general when people say shooter, they mainly mean long distance shooting. But I have no doubt MJ could've been a great 3 pt shooter too. But he didn't really need to, he was so efficient at all facets of the game.

Basically people would say he's the GOAT at ''scoring'', which includes shooting. MJ had no weaknesses, you had to respect every move/shot he would take, including when MJ decided to shoot 3s (ask the Blazers:mjgrin:)

Basically it comes down to this, if i needed a bucket to win the game, who's taking that shot/making that play? I'm taking MJ all day every day.

MJ=GOAT:mjgrin:

you are correct

every season he attempted at least 3 pointers a game he shot at least 37%. Highest was 95/96 he shot 43% from three on 3 attempts per game

LIES

HE SHOT 38% FROM THE 3 IN 1990..
35% FROM THE 3 IN 1993...

ANY SEASON HE DECIDED TO TAKE 3 THREES A GAME
HE SHOT IT WELL.

ALL THOSE OTHER SEASONS
HE WAS ATTEMPTING 1 THREE OR LESS
PER GAME.

HE NEVER WANTED TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE 3 BALL
SO HE STAYED AWAY FROM IT.

PLAYOFF RUNS...
39% IN 91
39% IN 92
39% IN 93

ONLY CLOWNS THINK A GOAT SHOOTER LIKE MJ
WOULDNT THRIVE IN THIS ERA.

Good question op, I would consider him to be one of the best shooters, it's just that the 3 pointer wasn't as loved as it was today as it was back then. Jordan mid-range is unmatched so he really didn't need to take a lot of threes. Plus the plays that were designed were focused on the advantages of players which for jordan was inside the arc.
