:aicmon: Wizards sold out every game, Jordan had a 50 point game and still put up 20 PPG with bad knees

Nah...

Jordan is basically a myth now.

The way it's presented, you would think he scored more points than everybody, won the MVP, DPOY, and All-Star MVP award every single season, won the NBA Finals every year, and carried a team full of D-League level players.

He's the most overrated legend in any sport just for the sheer fact that he's basically "Chuck Norris" of the NBA

I get your point, but I think that Jordan's impact on the game and the culture has been so big that it's hard for any wing player to come out and not be compared to him...I don't know if such an impact has been seen in any other sport, MJ changed the game and made it extremely popular worlwide, so he's the reference...

And I think that a lot of this actually falls into the players' own responsibility: a lot of them coming out now don't seem to have a genuine personality, they're either bland (Durant, Rose) or seem to try too hard (James, Howard). No hate, it just seems that players before all had some kind of personality you could relate to (or not): Rodman, Oakley, Sprewell, Payton, Malone, Mourning, Shaq, Iverson...(Kobe, Garnett, Pierce too) it makes it harder to NOT compare current players to former ones since current ones haven't really created their own niche/image yet. And let's not forget the impact of Jordan's "journey", haiving to battle the PIstons, "take" the league from Bird and Magic, go multiple times agianst the Knicks etc...all that added to his mystique, while rivalries don't really exist anymore in the NBA. That's where legends were made, and in the current NBA elite players are being traded/leaving their teams more often so it's harder to create a clear image.

nikkas also gotta make up their minds. You will see the same nikkas claimin they are sick of Jordan comparisons making their own when it fits their agenda. I am all for nikkas moving on but neither the stans or the haters seem to want to.

I do respect, I don't respect how everyone whores his name out and sticks it next to *hof level player here*, it makes me sick.

ill say this - i havent seen it done as much lately as back in the day with harold minor, etc...lebron is nothing like MJ, so any comparisons there are silly

and MJ equalled ratings so im sure that has something to do with it

i highly doubt old ass michael jordan is in the medias ear trying to keep his name relevant, he's inked his legacy and it will never be surpassed

Don't blame MJ for the over the top dikk riding of people who can't let these young niqqas live because of him.

He was a moment in time where the stars aligned, the NBA moved from CBS to NBC pouring all of their time into him, new teams watered down the league, Free Agency tore teams a part and he was fortunate enough that his number two guy stayed around to get financially raped by the Bulls and....he was a really great player.

All of that shyt coalesced to create the aura of MJ that people can't get over.

Excellent point. I'd say stern created that environment when he went on his personal mission to eliminate AI and anyone like him from the league and when he made the superstar > team. It got rid of that individuality your talking about to where everyone has to be some cookie cutter type while at the same time making the wars against different squads seem less important as oppose to the individual battles and what it would mean for Player A to beat Player B when it comes to comparing them to Jordan.

They cheapened the fukk outta Mike's legacy.

nikkas also gotta make up their minds. You will see the same nikkas claimin they are sick of Jordan comparisons making their own when it fits their agenda. I am all for nikkas moving on but neither the stans or the haters seem to want to.

I'd say a lot of us are just as indoctrinated in this Jordan myth building as the people I'm speaking on. Alls I'm sayin is comparisons aren't the problem, my problem is when they gotta be "The next Jordan.", let them be themselves.

Edit: For the record I'm not blaming Jordan, I'm just sick of the image whoring the media does. Kobe was already a lost cause, but imaging if they had let LeBron grow into himself in the league without all that stupid ass Jordan shyt. He'd prolly be an even bigger superstar than he is now.

i wouldnt go as far as sayin f jordan (even though he is a a$$hole)
but i do agree dat anything negative aBOUT his game, basketball career, and pretty much his life has pretty much been erased from the history books by the media and almost all of his fans.
He's pretty much looked upon as a godly figure who did no wrong
