Reading is probably at this point a top 3 form of entertainment.

What y’all reading tho?

I just finished The Divine Compensation and I’m now reading The Power of Myth.

I’m looking at The Coddling of The American Mind as my next book..

I have a coworker telling me to read Jordan Peterson 12 Rules of Life since I read Divine Compensation. I can’t see the connection tho :jbhmm:

Audiobooks is the main thing I listen to outside of music.

Have a few physical copies sitting around the crib that I pick up from time to time to ensure I finish them

I spend most of my reading time on technical docs/books so it's not that entertaining but I do try to read at least 1 non-technical book a month. I wish I had more space to have my own personal library but I'll have to settle for a digital library for now.

I had no choice but to turn to books as a kid cause Mom would OD on restricting TV and gaming. One oversight she had though was that she assumed everything I was reading was educational.

While I still like to read I've fallen off a bit. Have been buying audiobooks instead to listen to while working.

I be reading books on my phone and it's so funny.

I see people glance at my screen and get. A :hhh: when they see it's a ebook.

Or my phone will connect to someone's Bluetooth and it's an audiobook. It's a wrap :mjlol:
Ah, that's great.

I'm still a physical book fan for the series of books I read (Black Library) as I'm a collector but ebooks are fantastic.

The space they take up is problematic

This is good. I know I hang out in Libaries and bookstores I’m surprised that I can’t find that book about Seal Team six anywhere.

I was a voracious reader up until my early 20's, but then the whirlwind of life hit.I miss it like an old companion. What's crazy, my older brother was the exact opposite. He used to tell me all the time "You need to stop reading so many damn books, and start reading people:ufdup:"

Admittedly, he got 10X more puzzy than me.It was always in the back of my head like "Maybe he has a point!?:jbhmm:"

But yeah, I'm ready to boomerang back to the books.

The joy and benefits of reading are hard to explain to people because it's very much a locus of control thing

Reading is a skill and it's hard to develop because there are definitely levels of reading effectiveness but if you develop that skill:wow:reading skill has compound interest too:wow:

This is also why I shill fiction to men. Reading fiction is literal imagination training and a strong imagination will improve every aspect of your life:wow:

Indeed! For books, fiction is all I read, read a few autobiographies but non fiction books don't provide what I want from reading (entertainment and a mental break I suppose)
