Sting was never a mark and never gave a fukk about Wrestlemania. When Wrestlemania 1 happened, he was 25. WWE checks cleared and he got the DVD and video game money before wrestling those two matches so winning and losing prob didn't cross his mind

I don't understang why people keep talking about Sting at Wrestlemania. He got a spinal injury, a more serious injury than those of Rollins, Orton and Cena, and at 56. That in-ring career, if anything, is probably over.
Before that...he lost to a non draw at WM 31. It was stupid.

breh they almost put him out of business. imagine building some shyt for 20 years (that your father built for years before that) and some Johnny come lately company comes along, steals your product, breaks all the established rules of the industry, and almost puts you out of business. look at how salty apple/android or PS/xbox stans are toward each other, and they don't even own the fukking companies.
so all the shyt Cokeboy did a decade earlier to the territories? :mjpls:

Steve isn't a mark

But also isn't a good business man

This is a guy that did jobs to a nikka named GUNNER on free tna tv in a pointless tag match, a guy named MAGNUS in the middle of a tna ppv in like 2 minutes, damn near DIES on wwe ppv against some neckbeard favorite who thinks it's a good idea to give a damn near 60 yr old a table spot and 2 turnbuckle powerbombs.

Cokeboy raided all them territories in the 80s to build his brand so it was a matter of him being dished his own medicine

And like they're not trying to do the same thing right now to ROH and the Indies.

It still doesn't make sense to me why they did that. If Sting wasn't being built for a big match down the line (maybe with taker), at least it's a big, 6 month story line where the fans are heavily invested in seeing the hero win. That wasn't enough for Sting to go over either. The only explanation that makes sense is building HHH up as a heel, but he hasn't even wrestled since then and that win or loss really wouldn't effect his stature vs Roman at all, any more than him losing to D Bry at WM 30 lowers it.

That really feels like a time where Vince just wanted to spite WCW.

Meltzer always claims he was never the same but the booking of Nash and the fingerpoke of Doom was what sabotaged WCW. The fans stayed with Sting, no matter how Meltzer spins it.

Yep, a Sting vs Goldberg face vs face match in 98 would've been a huge PPV draw still.

No stannery (ok slight stannery) but a case/storyline could have been made for Sting being the one to end Goldberg's undefeated streak eventually as well.

(original WCW franchise, I respect you but now I look forward to beating you blah blah blah)

Meltz knows his stuff but he's WAY off on Sting.

That's nonsense sting was always over

Always over yes, but as a draw? The perception of not being able to win the big one hurt him I think. Also that Goldberg snatched away the #1 babyface spot and hot bigger than any other Crockett/WCW face since who, Dusty? Magnum TA?
