According to WrestlingObserver.com, Vince McMahon was not in a good mood this afternoon before Raw. The fallout was that after working for WWE for over a decade, Brian Gewirtz was removed as the head writer. Gewirtz will remain under contract as a consultant

People backstage are said to be scared, and Vince told the producers today, "I want results or I want resignations."

Just a question, (I don't have an opinion one way or another) but why do many of you care about ratings so much? I'm fairly certain that it's not always an accurate barometer of how good the show is, or the caliber of talent on it. Is it just the easiest way to disparage a wrestler that you don't like, or do some of you really check for the ratings? Just a question. :yeshrug:

For the same reason why people in the Booth love to talk about first week sales. They think it's the be all end all for said person. I created the original ratings thread to prove a point, and that was that it's mostly the same viewers tuning in and out no matter what happens.

Some heads think low ratings = they're going back to the Attitude era soon, and that's what some hold out for, not realizing that Coke Boy Vince will have them watching wrestling forever no matter what he puts out there.

It's just another excuse to praise the guy they like and shyt on the guy they don't. As you said, when the target demo is mostly children, it obviously doesn't mean much and cheering a guy based on how much kids like him is very strange behavior indeed. And that's to say nothing about how flawed the Neilsen rating system is to begin with.
