Umm, your whole post suggested that Cena somehow made himself the number one contender when it was Punk who made that decision.
No...and I don't know what you're reading that would make you get that suggestion

The whole point of the promo was for Cena to tell Punk that demanding respect means nothing to him and to get it he has to beat Cena in his hometown for the belt.
:what: Did he even mention that it was going to be in his hometown? No...and if he would've, it probably would've made more sense. The point of his promo was to say that Punk hasn't earned his respect because he already been there, did that, and whether he got a title shot now or later doesn't matter. So basically, he don't care about the champion or the championship. :aicmon: Explain to me how Cena doing this (in addition to telling Punk that "demanding respect means nothing to him") is good in any form or fashion. He basically just took Punks words, and twisted them into a promo that didn't benefit Punk, didn't benefit the WWE Title, didn't benefit the WWE, but it sure as hell benefitted himself. Am I right or wrong?

The past victories over Cena don't matter because that's how the Es been booking Punk to still be lower on the card than Cena/Lesnar/HHH/Rock.
:dwillhuh: and this is good because?

So now if he beats Cena in the main event at NOC then he will get that main slot and be cemented as the #1 guy going forward.
U don't even believe this

Like I said the only problem was Cena didn't go all "fukk you CM Chump you gotta beat me one on one in BAWSETAWN to get my respect bytch," is what's giving some on here problems.
No...that's far from the issue. I don't care about that at all. What gets me angry is the fact that Cena as a wrestler has put himself above the title and the championship, which in effect makes the WWE Championship worthless.

You're not realizing that while Cena may have "sonned" Punk, he had to bury the title, the prestige of being its champion, and Punks upcoming match at NOC's in order to do it. Nobody said he had to kiss Punk's ass, or that he had to curse and carry on in his promo...the only thing we ask is that he not bury what's supposed to be the most important title in the organization.

To me none of this is not hard to process, this is wrestling not some Emmy award drama :manny:

Yet you're focusing on the emmy award acting (Cena sonning Punk) above the way the promo affects the wrestling business

It's nonsensical and stupid because it's not based in reality. Punk already beat Cena for (and defended) the title in every title match they've had for over a year now...but wait, that don't matter cause Cena says he has to face him and walk out the champion at Night of Champions? :dwillhuh:

Why? Because John said so? Cena was better off telling Punk "I'll never respect you as champion," but I guess that goes against his character so he had to address it the way he did.
This whole post reads like John was behind the whole thing. Punk put Cena in driver's seat and he ran with it. The face outsmarted the heel, you know classic wrestling booking.

:what: Did he even mention that it was going to be in his hometown? No...and if he would've, it probably would've made more sense.
I'm starting to think you never even watched the promo :sadcam:

The promo was to set up the match at NOC. I don't think the promo buried the title at all. Cena's whole point was to tell Punk that a match with him in the main event is bigger than anything he's done in the past 9 months. And by the way they've been booking up to this it's been true. All I've been trying to get through is that they've been building this up all year and now people wanna act like what they've been saying about Punk not being considered important or the top dog is false :childplease:

I guess if Rock or Lesnar were opposite Punk people wouldn't be so slow to the booking.

:dwillhuh: and this is good because?

I doesn't matter what I believe because that's not what I've been speaking on. Personally I think it's wrong to have your Champ play backseat to other wrestlers but that's how they've been booking things and it's new territory for the E so I want to see what this build is heading towards.

He didn't though. All he said was that if Punk had respect for the title and the fans he'd put it on the line without some prerequisite.

Not really, I've never really called it sonning and even if I did it wasn't a big one. The only shot Cena got in there was about the shoot last year and that was barely anything that would affect the wrestling business

I was noting the point where John said Punk has to beat him one more time to earn respect. Everyone knows Punk wanted to challenge Cena...that wasn't the point. It was the response that, "I'm not gonna respect you cause you ain't beat me yet" even tho he beat him like 4-5 times. And then he ends it off by saying "there's a mutual respect" :dwillhuh:

I'm starting to think you never even watched the promo :sadcam:
I did like 4 times. I'll admit the first two times Cena's promo had moments where I just zoned out...he cuts promo's like a politician and not like somebody who's about to get into a fight (which is what he's supposed to be doing)

It's not that people are acting like it's false, it's the fact that...it's bad enough you're doing it, but now you're just gonna say it out loud? At least feign ignorance about the bs you're doing to the title. At least pretend...don't acknowledge it

ok, that's fair
