This thread just confirmed I can't take the Coli serious when it comes to rating singing talent. SILK got some of the best vocals of any R&B group. This is the same forum where a poster said Trey Songz sings better than Usher so why am I even surprised

7-8 is a good rating. These cats just aren't that familiar with R&B like they think. Had a poster on the first page say they never even heard of SILK but this a "Black" forum tho.

SILK had a good run and a few hits OP posted. And some good albums. They can actually sing live and they touring to this day after coming out in the early 90s.

We're not rating only vocals. It's the entire package. Singing, dancing, hits, albums, impact, legacy, etc. When you factor that into the equation for Silk, they just don't hold up.

But if they don’t hold up iyo, why even make this thread to rate them plenty of other r&b groups to talk about. It’s like making a GOAT rapper contest and talking bout “this is day 8 y’all, let’s talk about Chingy”

Dammit I said it and I still stand by that. My opinion on R&B is impeccable


I’m not saying Silk was wack or anything but in the grand scheme of things they were your average group which is why they gotta 5 from me. They had some hits and can sing but there were much better groups just from that era. I can give them something like an 8 and give Dru Hill or Jodeci similar scores. They were much better groups and their track record speaks to that. And we will get into some old school groups at some point. Silk had no business getting scores close to them
