You take groups like SWV and Brownstone and they just had raw soul and feeling in their music.

I already answered that, “hold on” is a classic to me but that’s not a SOUL record, it’s a great pop/rnb track.

SWV has a song that’s the equivalent of “you’re always on my mind?” Post it.

People forget just how much impact En Vogue had. They had labels scrambling to find the next girl group. Just think about all the groups that came out in the 90s. You have to go all the way back to the 60s to find that again. There weren’t too many groups in the 70s and 80s

To answer OP, a 9. They're before my time but I went back a couple of years ago and checked them out--no group can touch them vocally.

What hurt them was internal issues and the fact that music was evolving so fast that they couldn't keep up imo. They also were older than a lot of their contemporaries.

They were on Michael Jackson’s label, none of those artists got the attention or true pushes that they needed
