Some do, some don’t. But the general consensus in DC is that they’re culturally East Coast or Mid-Atlantic but have a strong Southern heritage and lineage since a lot of them got roots in the Carolinas and southern Virginia.

I’d give it a 6. The people are cold and unfriendly and uptight (like Philly but maybe worse) but the museums especially the African American Smithsonian museum is one of the best museum experiences I’ve ever been to.

If you live anywhere out of DC proper than a 4.. if you live in DC (Which I did for 8 years.. 16th street NW columbia heights) then a 6.8

What’s the reason for your rating?
the city is very clean. Trains are clean, new buses and infrastructure and building everywhere… but I wasn’t a fan of the ppl
Interesting transplants say this.
I have a theory that I suspect that there is a correlation with this and the fact the Federal govt his big here and that impact culture to a degree.
Employment in the area in the field of Government is related to reputation. People may seem guarded to a degree or mind their own biz.
Like you can literally be walking past a person who literally works for the CIA or FBI or Pentagon even if they are a janitor or a Director or clerk.
Any other parts of the country they don't have that at all or as much. Like you could and do and say pretty much anything you want in person and online and your way of life is not impacted at all.
You expect people to give you handshakes and hugs on every corner?
