Born and raised :smugbiden: Add "City of Trees" to the nicknames (fukk "Farm to Fork" :pacspit: ) . Sacramento is the #2 Major city in the world behind Paris on the most trees per square mile.

I've lived here all of my life and I've seen the city change a lot . The Kings moving here in 1985 changed a lot of the demographic in Sacramento, such as the area north of Downtown (Natomas).

I find it funny when people talk about how diverse Sacramento is because it didn't start to get that way until the early 90s. :mjpls:

It's a great place to live to raise a family with great neighborhoods, schools and public parks.

Lot of things to do if you like the Great Outdoors. The American River Bike Trail, which runs from Folsom(15 minutes East) to Downtown :noah: Auburn which has a lot if great hiking trails as well, is only a 25 minute drive from Downtown as well.

It's a blue city but it still feels on the conservative side at times.

Nightlife has improved greatly through the years , mostly in part by former Mayor Kevin Johnson. The club scene still has a long way to go but the bar scene is better than any other city in Northern California. Prepare to deal with some Beer Snobs though:unimpressed: I recommend checking out The Bank , Coin-OP, Shady Lady and Dive Bar if you're visiting. They're all Downtown. As for clubs, The Mix, Social, The Park and Revival at The Sawyer are the better ones.

Weed has been legal here for years. Check out the weekly Sacramento News and Review (SN&R) for their ads.

If you're a foodie check out R St and Midtown.

The city does move at a slower pace than The Bay and LA but that's it when it compares to other CA cities.

Old Sacramento is still a good place to visit after all these years . The past improvements as well as the ones planned helped a lot. Crocker's art museum and The Railroad museum are great places to check out that are nearby .

Golden 1 Center is a beautiful arena, especially during warmer seasons where they open the hangar doors .

Weather is a Mediterranean climate so it's pretty fair year round outside of July/August where it can get in the 100s. It's like LA but with cooler nights , especially in the winter.

Bottom line

Pros: Cheaper than the The Bay and LA to live
Weather (outside of the summer)
Hour flight from LA & Vegas . Hour drive from the Bay , two hour drive from Reno/Tahoe
Family friendly
Bar Scene

Cons: The areas North and East from the city are. very conservative:mjpls:
Lack of diversity .
Nightlife .
Its NOT the Bay .
Airport TSA are :mjpls:

Overall, I give it a strong 6. It's a great place to live if you're not about that fast life.

Feel free to ask me about anything else

And any other Sac cats on here I forgot about, speak on it!

I'll set it off from the perspective of someone from the city, but mostly raised outside the city. I think I've gotten a perspective of having seen so many areas around the country, it helps me appreciate Sac even more every time I'm back...

Wonderful and underrated city that gets undervalued because it isn't coastal like most California cities, and is in a state loaded with large and popping cities. If Sac was anywhere else in Anericq it would be more appreciated...

The culture is unique, there is Bay influence but Sac has it's own web of influence. The different personalities of the city are interesting to note, like North Sac is different from East Sac which is different from South Sac...

One of the most diverse cities in the whole country with a strong economy and an underrated strong black community. Some of the most gorgeous women anywhere, the arts scene is popping, great food...

About the only drawbacks to Sac for me is that there aren't any majority black neighborhoods anymore, its normally very dry and when it's hot, it's hot as fukk in Sac, and that Sacramentans don't seem to realize how great the city is and what it can be. Not a defeatist mentality, but I debate this with my siblings--->there are 10 of us total, 8 of us were born in Sac and 6 of us spent their entire upbringing in Sac and never left. And the pessimism Sacramentans have when comparing Sacramento to The Bay or elsewhere is crazy to me, because I've seen these other places...

Sacramento is exactly what you'd think a city its size, 2.3-million metro and the center of culture and commerce for a ~4 million Central Valley, it is exactly what you'd think a city its size should have. And I've been to and/or lived in Baltimore, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Nashville, etc and the biggest difference between all those cities and Sac is all those cities are either the 1st or 2nd biggest cities in their states, so their isn't as much competition pulling the spotlight from them...

And I'm talking shopping, food, transit, nightlife, economy, arts, etc, on balance Sac stacks up well with all of these places, even if it doesnt have the "best" of everything, by no stretch does it have the worst in anything...

Like @FruitOfTheVale said about Oakland, I've been enough places to see Sacramento has mostly the same level of things similar sized cities have, and does some things better than these cities. It's just in California...

My perspective may would be different if I only grew up in Sac and it was all I knew, I'll let the other brothers chip in but I love the city, period. Only other place in California I'd take ahead of it is LA, no exceptions. shyt is an easy 8 for me and when the COL bubble bursts and black people start migrating back to Cali, its potential is so high. I love Sacramento...

Nailed it. I think a lot of other cities are better overall than Sacramento until I actually visit those cities :picard:

Not just the Kings, but also businesses and COL pushing Bay cats inland helped drive development in the city. And in the present the continued expansion of UC Davis and other education sectors...

I'm originally from Fruitridge (:whoa: Heights cat tho), but as a kid there was always mad Latins and Asians in the Ridge so to me, Sacramento always been diverse. But I was born in '89, maybe you've seen something I haven't...

The Heights used to be mostly black though, and there was always the segregated sections if North and South Sac from the white East and Land Park areas...

Everything else I only agree with comparing Sac to The Bay or LA, when you start comparing Sac to other cities across the country, it hardly looks like its lacking nightlife and things to do...

The River itself too is an attraction and plenty of people have them boat parties and hang out on the river...

Allentown, PA I became a Kings fan because of Chris Webber and those early 2000s teams. Stayed a fan afterwards. I don't jump from team to team.

Ok, you're from the South :patrice:

I was from the East (Rosemont, Rancho Cordova area) . Sacramento has always been more diverse on your part of town. I grew up in neighborhoods where we were the only family of color on the block.

It's a lot better now but mostly in the North and the south

I never got invited to those Summer Boat parties :mjcry:

Rafting with friends along the American river during the summer and holidays though :lawd:

I'm gonna mention this too, it at least holds some relevance...

Outside of LA, Sacramento cats are the biggest road paper chasers in Cali. Thru my own experience of playing with drugs from Cali to the East Coast, I networked with some Oakland pushers once, back in 2010. I've known some Oakland/East Bay cats to be networking in Atlanta and North Carolina, but that's it....

I've personally either run into other Sacramento nikkas, or been told of other Sacramento nikkas, when I was Upstate NY, Atlanta, NC, and VA. There's been busts over the years of Sacramento cats supplying work to South Carolina and Boston cats, the Ralo nikka in Atlants was plugged in by Sacramento nikkas, Doe B (RIP) in Alabama was plugged in with Sacramento nikkas, etc...

The only other Cali city you hear about more in that lane is LA. You'll hear Cali cats online talk about Sac being full of bums but Sac cats been taking that paper chase on the road for a long time, and in my experience nikkas across the country who really involved in that lane know it...
