8/10.
Probably one of the most unique cities in Europe. Has a small town feel and a very quaint charm.
You can ride your bike around 3am through Vondel Park like its nothing.
Pros:
1. GOAT biking infrastructure. You can bike around the whole city on dedicated bike lanes
2. The canals are very unique
3. Little noise pollution since a lot of people ride bikes instead of cars. Like you could go downtown and not hear any cars what so ever
4. Nightlife. It's Amsterdam so if you want access to it, you can get it. Women, weed and soft drugs.
5. Really chill and laid back atmosphere. Things aren't too hectic and its a cool place to just relax.
6. Nice museums and nice architecture
5. Good infrastructure. Good roads and great access to the rest of Europe with the train. Blazing up and then dipping into Noord Central to then take the train down to Paris is
Cons:
1. Nightlife. Because there's so much access to illicit materials, the city has a kind of "dirty" feel akin to Vegas being 'Sin City'. It's nothing to see people stoned out of their minds just laid out on the park grass.
2. Diversity. There really isn't much diversity in Amsterdam. Forget that we have brehs on the their national soccer team, this is still a blonde hair, blue eye city for the Jans and Lizzies of the world
3. Food. Nothing to write home about. Dutch food is mad bland. And unlike the Brits who got flavour from their former colonies, the Dutch didn't really incorporate it into their cuisine. British Indian Food > Dutch Indonesian Food.
4. Weather. A lot of grey weather and surroundings. Summer time is a nice time to visit but other than that. All the buildings are shades of gray and beige. Very little color.
Overall, one of my favorite places in Europe. I think it's good for 2-3 day bursts at a time. If you live in London, it's a good weekend trip in the same way NYC is a good weekend trip if you live in the North East. Anything more than that and I think it'd get ehhh.
