@Mr. Negative hits the nail on the head. Gurren Lagann is designed to inspire the viewer to overcome hardships and continue to drill upwards until you reach...somewhere beyond the top because there is no ceiling. One of the most uplifting shows this medium has to offer. can be borderline therapeutic if you can identify with loss and struggling to find purpose in life.

For a long time my favorite quote in anime was "Believe in me that believes in you". Kamina is the anxiety killer. The hype man that everybody needs in their corner. Whenener Simon expresses self doubt in his ability to succeed he can always rely on a voice to boost his confidence and push him forward. that voice doesn't disappear after death like we don't lose teachings from deceased mentors who shape who we are.

Giving it a 10. Maybe one of the lower 10s on my list because it's been such a long time since I've seen it, but the payoffs are so strong and relationships so memorable that I know it deserves around that score.

Great anime animated by my beloved Gainax:wow:
Fun but serious with good animation and sound. Solid 8.5.
Japanese folks are always surprised when I talk about it on their streams. Guess they don't realize just how popular it is worldwide:shaq:

Breh, they went out sooooo bad in the past decade plus. First with Anno and co. (including his protege/FLCL creator Tsurumaki Kazuya) leaving and starting Khara and stripping the Eva rights from them. Then with Imaishi leaving with a bunch of staff to form Trigger. Production I.G didn't even acknowledge Gainax as FLCL's original creator when they released Progessive and Alternative last year and they're not even listed as copyright owner of the latter two "seasons." Yamaga been talking about directing Honeamise's sequel Blue Uru for two fukking decades now.

I hate it had to be them :mjcry:

Don't remind me breh. They was in the golden age of anime when I started learning Japanese and to hear about them being reduced into a single bedroom apartment before getting absorbed makes me wanna shed a tear:mjcry:
Stay golden, Gainax Boy.... Stay golden:sadcam:

10 out of 10, truly one of the greatest anime series ever made and one that I urge anyone slightly interested in anime to watch. shyt this is making me want to watch the whole thing all over again.
