10/10 for me and one of my personal favorites. Kurama deserves more respect. Dude was raw and lethal the whole Dark Tournament

Yusuke and Kuwabara are brehs, Keiko is a sister too cuz she was sweet and nice but the bytch would throw down over some Yusuke. Toguro too

Brilliant anime it set the scene for Hunter X Hunter a few years later. Togashi wanted to do more on YU YU but he had to move at the pace of the editor's demands.
Easy 10 for me and pound for pound not only best shounen ever but best anime period. I know most have touched on the great aspects such as plot, themes,battles,character development already so won't write a 3 paragraph response right now, but its THAT great. The show is just trailblazing and iconic from so many standpoints, just an example of it like the breh @Consumed always says, you have never seen a shounen protagonist as layered as Yusuke and thats just one aspect of the character development in the show.
Sensui is probably my favorite villain in anime, and this show debatably has another (togurro) that most would say is the standout villain of the franchise
Only criticism of this show is the end is just rushed, thats damn good when thats the ONLY flaw you have

Just finished the score and updated it on the leaderboard.
At first, I was going to place this anime at a 9. Considering the animes I truly consider a 10 (Berserk, Now and Then Here and There, Shouwa Genroku Rakugo)
They all had tremendous character arcs and great plots. Amazing style, soundtracks and atmospheres.
Then I remembered the arc after Sensui dies. Yusuke has all of this rage because he dedicates himself to the fight but doesn't get the conclusion he wants with Sensui. Sensui wasn't even fully into it either. It eats at him that he didn't get to finish what he started, the one outlet that he feels truly talented at. Only to realize that there is such a large gap between him and the top. He can't always win.
The difference between Yusuke at the Dark Tournament and the demon tournament is like two different characters. I love it. His dedication to Genkai with his spirit gun shooting to the stars was a great moment.
