I do think there are more current anime watchers than most believe but that nostalgia factor maybe too much to over compensate.

But not one top 10 anime past 2009 is hilarious.

Sure seems like it. Even in the case of Brotherhood the original came out in 2003 on toonami so the nostalgia was already in place. I think there are legit reasons to keep HxH out of a top ten all time list - it's actually not in my top ten list - but not when most voters are only concerned about action/shounen and mecha. It has to be top ten then.

Jojo and Fate/Zero have a shot. Other than that, lot of the best anime of the decade would probably struggle to get enough votes to qualify because they're aimed at different audiences.

I was halfway joking and haven't seen that yet. I can get down with mostly anything, but I prioritize Seinen, Mystery, and Thriller. I'll take a good Romance or Slice of Life too. I'm not really bothered by what's selected, I'm using this as exposure to stuff I haven't seen.

-Grave of the Fireflies had the same exact score as ninja scroll (9.54)

-Even had the same score past three digits (9.54545454)

-But Ninja Scroll has 38 first place votes vs 16 first place votes for Grave of the fireflies so they have the tie breaker

-Kudos to ninja scroll.
