trust me when i say this: i been there

i didnt get a ti

i ended up with a prebuilt one with a 560 :dro: everyone and their momma told me to upgrade this and that

but video card is the one thing you cant go wrong with if you get a good one most of the time

IE the cards in PS3/xbox are still working pretty strong in 2012 yet they released in 2005/06

i would ignore the psu advice honestly....as long as you arent a slob and the cpu has breathing room and decent cooling(and a reliable power surge) you should be straight
this is absolutely the worst post I have ever read.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS GUY.

I recommend Corsair PSU. They have a 7 year warranty and their RMA is by far the easiest. :ohlawd:

Power Supplies

Professional Series™ Gold / AX Series™ PSUs have a 7 year warranty
Professional Series / HX Series™ PSUs have a 7 year warranty
Enthusiast Series™ / TX Series™ PSUs have a 5 year warranty
Gaming Series™ / GS Series™ PSUs have a 3 year warranty
Builder Series™ / CX Series™ PSUs have a 3 year warranty
HX Series (Models HX520W, HX620, and HX1000) have a 5 year warranty
Enthusiast Series™ (Models VX450, and VX550) have a 5 year warranty
VS Series™ PSUs have a 3 year warranty

passmark is what I use when I try to get the most bang for buck when building. AMD is still usually at the top of the list on the CPU side...don't let fanboys sway your decision. Intel IS the better brand these days, but if your on a very tight budget an amd cpu will still get you far.

PassMark Videocard Value Chart - Performance / Price of Videocards

PassMark CPU Value Chart - Performance / Price of available CPUs

what do the numbers to the right of the chart stand for?

GDMark/Dollar

Its a pretty good way to measure performance. YouGamers used to have a similar list, but they abandoned it for some reason. So obviously if you have a $60 budget...the 640 is probably your best bet unless you can get one of the higher rated cards used from a site like overclock

Excuse me, top of what what list? :comeon:
value breh...AMD usually has Intel beat in that area.

here we go :snoop:

Intel still holds the crown for the ~$50 CPU tho...those sandy bridge celerons are pretty solid.

it's kinda confusing. basically it shows what's 'the most bang for your buck'. but I don't think anyone cares about the performance:price ratio of the gtx 550ti, when it doesn't have the power you need

I was waiting for you to say that since a $46 dollar Intel CPU is only 5 points below the $151 dollar AMD counterpart.

Is $100+ dollars really worth the 5 points you are advertising? :heh:
