Just ordered the starter kit off Amazon after seeing an article on LifeHacker.com about turning it into an emulator. Don't know anything about it other than what that article told me. :heh:

Should be a fun little project. :obama: I'll have to look around to see what else I can do with it.

I just don't see the value for most with the raspberry pi, but it's a cool project to get young people into tinkering with things.

It had decent value..before the chromecast that is. It still has value as an HTPC as it has a wired Ethernet connection

SOMETHIN REAL FO YO ASS IN THESE HANDS!!!!
got a chromebox on black friday for 120.00 (comes with 2GB RAM, intel celeron chip, and 16GB SSD drive)
Comes with wifi, bluetooth, 4 usb 3.0 ports, HDMI, and SD card reader

installed custom BIOS, wiped chromeOS, and installed Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon
added 2GB RAM for 19.99
swapped 16GB SSD with 64GB SSD for 44.00
added wireless keyboard with built-in touchpad for 25.00

total around 210.00 for everything, and it 's a full-blown PC without excuses

By the time you get everything you want tacked onto the Pi, you somewhere around 150, AND keep in mind I could have installed Linux onto the stock chromebox, and prolly been happy without the extra ram\HD space.

Its a shame this thread is dead. Did anyone ever get around to actually doing anything impressive with the Raspberry Pi 2?

I just finished reading on a few different sites people that prefer the Raspberry Pi 2 over chrome cast and the fire sticks. I don't know enough about it but it sounds interesting. Amazon has a quad core raspberry pi with 4 usb ports, an Ethernet port, and an hdmi out for $60. Some people are saying that you can successfully use it as a retro console emulator and media center with Kodi on it.
