Are you serious? You're telling me you can't hear a difference between 04 Kanye and 2012 Kanye?
His entire sound is more detailed and more grand, and his own productions sound cleaner and sharper than it did when he was younger. The sampling is still heavy in his music, but instead of just speeding up soul records of the 70's and rapping over claps and kicks, he's incorporated them into melody's and all sorts of things.
Lyrically, Kanye HAS progressed. Like I said in the previous post, he isn't always consistent, but he showed flashes of brilliance on MBDTF, WTT, and even on this album.

1.) thats because he has diff CO-PRODCERS NOW(4 of them) -- to craft his sound ...doesnt make the MUSIC better he just makes it more "complex" for the fukk of it..

lyrically it's really boring after a few spins, every damn track about stuntin, fashion name dropping, how rich they are compared to everyone else...

Not too big difference and lets not forget that kanye's style that he blew up with was a CHANGE from a previous style.
Which is something the dumbest nikkas can't understand, nikkas wouldn't appreciate his music if he followed a formula and kept on dropping the same shyt as someone like 50 cent. Been trying to recreate Grodt since 2005.

You sorely misunderstand the presence of co-producers
None of those guys are even co-producing on most songs, they're playing the instruments and adding little cogs and crunks that Kanye, who is most of the time co-producing on the songs he doesn't make himself, tells them to fit in. Most, if not all, of the samples, hooks, and melodies are Kanye-incorporated, Mike Dean & Jeff Bhasker and whoever just produce a bridge or add in some instruments
And as far as lyrics are concerned...

I'm a ye stan. But Cruel Summer is weak.
If you would list all his albums. Cruel Summer & WTT would rank the worst. Those who believe in Yeezus like the solo albums way more. We don't love the 100% flossing and club trap joints.

I made it a point to look past the many aspects of Kanye that I hate (him on the mic mostly), and actually enjoyed this project a bit.
The review is pretty accurate, but the reviewer went a bit overboard with the personal bias. There were some bright lyrical moments on it (Pusha, Ghost, Malik Yusef and Cyhi did their thing). The production was also great for the most part.
It just sucks that the overall product is a very safe and easy listen, with literally nothing beneath the surface to appreciate

I love people using "this isn't Kanye's album" as an excuse. His names on it, hes executive producing and he is pretty much the only one with the final input
