And how many rappers do this? :upsetfavre:

Did Mase shoutout LL when he used the "Can't a young nikka get money anymore" I didnt even know that was an LL line until years later b/c it was before my time.

Did Wayne shout out Rakim when he bit the "Thinkin of a Master Plan" verse.

The list could go on, but y'all like to single out Drake. :yeshrug:

And Is this a real single, or just some mixtape stuff? If it's a real single then 4-Tay should get a check, but for some mixtape stuff he needs to just fall back.

You're comparing LL and Rakim to Rappin 4-Tay....

nah. this question was answered multiple times. @Taadow

i dont know about a regional hit but it dam sure wasnt an across the board hit. and he certainly was a regional artist.

how does somebody from canada know this song? well it made it to rap city didnt it? but thats only half the battle.

...and this is where you got it wrong.

1) "Playaz Club" was an "across-the-board" hit, even if 4-Tay was a "regional" artist.
That song made the Top 40.
2) Just because 4-Tay was a "regional" artist, doesn't mean he wasn't bigger inside or outside his region
than other artists from his region.
3) You don't know how Drake heard this song.

1.) every song in the top 40 is not an across-the-board hit. theres songs that charted much higher that werent across-the-board hits. you know how many rap fans back then have never even heard of dude?

2.) huh?

3.) :beli::heh:

1) Yeah...that is what it means. A song is a "hit" if it "hits" the Top 40 Charts. That's where that word comes from.
I can't believe niccas still don't know this. lol

2) You said 4-Tay was "in the same batch" as Richie Rich and Dru Down.
I (and others) told you that 4-Tay was bigger than those two.

3) It's true - you don't.

1.) no its not. theres markets where rappin 4-tay is non-existant and "players club" got less than zero play.

2.) he is indeed in the same batch. and the people that were arguing with me, ended up agreeing at the end of the day. so who are you cosigning? just because he made a lil bit more money, doesnt mean he was on a different level.

3.) and you know that he did hear it in real-time? dude obviously wasnt around back then, unless he heard it by some chance fluke.

1) LOL yeah it is...and that counts all the spins in the nation. So even if there were markets where "Playaz Club" got 'less than zero play'
(which is impossible, by the way) the sum off all markets is greater than that.

2) I didn't say sh*t about money, I said 4-Tay was bigger than them. He had more exposure than them...but that happens when
you have a Top 40 hit.

3) I don't know how he heard it, the same way you don't know. The difference is, i'm not pretending to know like you are.

1.) how is it impossible? you cant be serious. you know how many BIG hits werent getting spins everywhere? this is where i get ready to stop replying.

2.) money as in a top 40 hit and so on. cmon dog.......and at the end of the day, he was still in the same boat as them. like homie said, alot of people dont know 4-tay from dru down from whoever.

3) i recall him saying that he got into rap at a much later period than '94. now if im getting him mixed up with someone else, then so be it. but he embodies someone who didnt really get into rap until the '00s or late '90s at best anyway.

1) It's impossible to get "less than zero" anything. lol
And again, I didn't say that song was getting spins everywhere. But it got enough spins overall to hit the Top 40.
If they play a song everywhere but Miami to the point it becomes #36 on the Chart, that doesn't keep the song
from being a hit - it's just a hit they don't play in Miami for whatever reason.

2) Hits don't always = money, ask TLC. That's why it's stupid to use those things interchangeably.
And homie said HE didn't know 4-Tay from Dru Down, not "alot of people".
4-Tay's reach was bigger than Dru Down or Rich's, because (again) he had a hit. That gave him more
visiblility than they had.

3) This is speculation, though.

1.) theres alot of markets that werent paying any attention to rappin 4-tay. what dont you understand? smh. you just dont get it.

2.) come on man. i didnt mean money in a literal sense. what do i look like? dudes accountant? money was code-word for notoriety. he had a bigger hit. MAN NEVERMIND. smh.

3.) whether its speculation or not, its a mediocre side-argument to the real point. which is what ive been telling you since like sunday. and we done re-established this earlier today, but once again, you come in here taking the thread backwards.
