Apparently, we don't buy CD's cause rappers like Birdman are rapping about Millions of dollars... and kids only making $9 an hour. :heh:

what about in the 80's and 90's when minimum was far less than what it is now?

with that logic, we should be buying CD's at 5 or 6x the rate we did back then

not the same.

you just named a pop-rapper and a bunch of plants(not sure about krit being a plant but you get the point).

all you have left is a christian rapper and a rapper that's not from this era.

im a "cac" now? the funny thing is, your whole argument in the post after this reads like it was typed by white fingers.

and lol @ the other comment. I more than likely forgot more bout this era of hip-hop than you'll ever know. and I most likely support current hip-hop more than youll ever attempt to.

the problem with the rappers that youre hyping up is that they have no real wave. theyre corporate rappers with no real standing without their labels.

you sound like a noobish d*ckhead that's young, dumb and on top of that, prolly only experienced hip-hop thru via your laptop. so you probably wont understand. meanwhile, somebody like me can see this chit from a mile away.

go sit your nobody @$$ down and learn something.

this sounds more like a testament to the said rappers' lack of talent, rather than their content.

First off show me proof that any of the rappers I mentioned are "plants" :childplease:

Second if your elitist ass would've actually listen to drake you wouldn't call that man a pop rapper, dude makes real music, stop hating :rudy:

Nd You know nothing bout me so miss me with that "I forgot more about this era than you'll ever know".

The fact of the situation is yes, that "i'm balling rap" is all over but it's always been like that, almost every major rapper in the 80's,90's and 00's had a couple or more of songs about cash, cars and hoes so that argument is totally flawed.

My point is that it's getting old, it's repetitive and while in the 80's 90's and 00's niccas would get away with it, today in 2013 people are STARTING to get tired of it.

Besides the game today has as much if not more diversity than the 90's.

While in the 90's the game was dictated by the current trends in the area where the rappers was from like G-funk at one point on the west, Mafioso on the east, today we have NOTHING like it.

You got rappers like, Cole, Krit, Drake, Bronson, Soul, Q, Jayrock, Currensy, Kendrick, King Los, Dizzy Wright, Earl, Mac Miller (he used to be wack but recently dude stepped his game up like CRAZY) , Joey Badass, Flatbush Zombies, Casey Veggies, Dom Kennedy, Future,Smoke DZA, ASAP Rocky, ASAP Ferg.

These rappers sound NOTHING alike and I'm just scratchin the surface

Then that dude workin for 10 bucks an hour should do the following things if he "feels a certain way"

-get a better higher payin job
-stop bein so gatdamn sensitive about how much money other people make
Stop listenin to rap.

Why should rappers feel compelled to not rap about flossin just to not offend poor people? :mindblown:

:rudy: thats what they're doing. Thats the point of this thread

What kind of self loathing bs is it to constantly want to be belittled by "baller" rappers?

TS makes some of the worst threads ever.

nikkas were flooded in Gold in the 80's, but now in 2013 rappers talking about jewelry/money need to chill.

Everybody knows the decline in CD sales is do the the rise of the internet... but fakkits like TS think it's cause of the excessive wealth that rappers are bragging about now ( even tho it's been going on for 30+ years) is why CD sales are dropping.

To ur point, slick rick had a diversity of subjects....if u didnt like his materalistic raps, all u had to do was skip one or two songs. Mainstream rap cats rap about balllin/hedonistic sht 99% of the time.

fukk rapper sales and buying there CD's.

first off it's 2013 and i can go to walgreens buy a 5 pack cd for $ 2.00 and come back and download there shyt..

next thing why buy any rap album today when there's only 2 good tracks on a album 90% of the time.

if these n!qqas want to sell albums have a better way to block any download of there album which is posible if they are smart enough

and finally don't blame rappers for your spending habits, blame your parents and blame yourself for trying to floss like these white folks u see everyday

I wasn't referring to drake as the pop rapper actually. that's the chip on your shoulder talking.

lol @ the bolded. you have no clue what youre talking about.

lol @ asking for proof of someone being an industry plant. you sound more and more like a simpleton with each word that comes off your keyboard.

it only gets old & repetitive to white folks and lame niccas actually. I do agree that a lot of the current artists are redundant with it, but that's moreso a testament to their lack of artistic merit.

now get away from me. youre giving me a headache. please don't respond.

It doesn't matter.

rap has ALWAYS been on some escapism/Materialistic/Braggadocio type shyt.

1979 had rappers bragging about having a Lincoln and a Cadillac, Color TV,their clothes, having a shytload of money, their fukk game etc....we got the same thing in 2013, just with modern day shyt.

if y'all don't wanna hear cats rap about ballin/ hedonism all the time, then don't listen to them til you wanna hear that type of shyt... it's as simple as that.

It's not possible.

you sound like somebody who doesn't know how the internet works.

name ONE relatively popular rapper who's album never leaked, and has never had any of their music illegally downloaded.

basically.

like I said, rap was built off of these bars. we can go back before wax.

I wouldnt say that is the reason for the decline in hip hop sales, but I will say that it'd be nice to hear more "gotta make that money maaaaaane" and less "my wrist cost more than yo house"
