Eminem…If it wasn’t for a Dr Dre cosign and melanin deficiency he would’ve been written off as a Redman and AZ biter.

J Cole… I know he’d kinda counts as current gen and I’ve come around to appreciate his features lately but pretty much the same sentiments as above. If he was darkskin and didn’t have a Hov cosign he’d be lucky to have Wale’s career.

I gotta say Kanye. Even tho I liked his first two albums he was always corny to me and he has a terrible voice. Some of the corniest punchlines ever

Mayonnaise colored Benz I push miracle whips
:heh:

I’m the Louis Vuitton don got my mama a purse now she Louis Vuitton mom
:heh:
And he only got cornier the older he got. Great producer tho when he ain’t over doing it

Will get some flack for this but whatever

A lot of 80s artists, especially pre-Rakim days...just sounds so basic and ancient

Big Daddy Kane for example, just before my time so those styles sound ancient

E-40...always been a cornball

Blackstar & Mos Def...ehhh they aight but overhyped, especially by white backpacker types

Eminem, his voice was always obnoxious, obviously he's talented, I just don't like his music

DJ Quik...not a fan of his, I don't dislike his music but I don't "get it," his voice sounds corny to me, and a lot of his beats get boring to me, I like the harder The Chronic-style beats over the smooth quik style. I could care less that he has the beats created with live instruments and shyt

Not a huge Outkast fan, I enjoy their first 3 albums, but none are in my top 15 range. The roses smell like poo poo stuff is OD corny

Cormega's beat selection of almost ONLY soulful, heartfelt beats always annoyed tf out of me, b/c I really like Cormega, I just wish he'd more willing to rap over grittier, darker Havoc-style beats. Same goes for Tragedy Khadafi, another artist I love, but dislike their beat selection.

LOVE RZA (i think he's underrated as an emcee), but bobby digital stuff is TRASH to me...still appalled that we never got a true solo from him AS THE RZA in the prime 93-97 heyday of The Wu.

Not a huge fan of Ice Cube...DC nor AMW are in my top 20

RD is in my top 10-12 albums but I don't really like most Jay-Z albums at all...I don't like his beat selection

A black moon song came into my timeline again and everytime I hear them I simply just don’t get it. Honestly the whole Boot Camp Clik minus Sean Price( not a fan but I can see why people like him) I just don’t understand. If I want Dusty NYC raps I’d just listen to Big L or Wu Tang.

Can y'all name some artist or groups you don’t understand the hype?

I love Dusty NYC raps so I can't get enough of it, therefore I enjoy BCC. The Wu and Mobb are easily better but it's good to have some variety within a sub-genre

I’m a fan now but it took me a VERY long time to understand what the big deal was about Mobb Deep.

Thinking back to when I first started to explore the classics as a a young teen..whereas I INSTANTLY understood the appeal when I heard Illmatic, 36 Chambers, etc…first time I heard the Infamous like “WTF is this dark, sleepy shyt?”

The Darkness of The Infamous is what I love about it.

Redman is a wack ass goof ball that cant fukk with Busta or Method Man or Ludacris

T.I. is a skinny hypocrite fake super thug with great singles on overall WEAK albums

Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jeezy, Gucci, Future >>> some fukking T.I
Busta and Luda are literally stylistic offshots of Redman :mjlol:

Jadakiss: A very good rapper with occasional memorable bars when it comes to guest or group verses but extremely underwhelming as a solo artist. It's comical every time I read a comment from somebody saying he's top 5.

Papoose: Very similar to Jadakiss minus the classic memorable bars, he's another rapper whose name has rung out more than it should considering the fact he's a wack artist with a dismal catalog.

Fat Joe. His rise to popularity is amazing, considering how average he's always been as a rapper. Yes, he has a memorable voice but nothing special, hailing from D.I.T.C. I can't believe he's the one that blew up compared to the likes of O.C.

Big L: His debut is often viewed as a classic, and I won't dispute it, but his death has overrated him. I'm not a big fan of his style; he's a little too “raw,” if that makes sense; hearing him rap feels like I'm listening to a long, neverending freestyle.

Remy Ma: Constantly hailed among great female artists such as Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, etc. She, just like her husband, is often touted or spoken about as if they were among the greats of their class, the late 90s and early 00s; she has a nonexistent discography, no classics, memorable lyrics, etc.

MF Doom: No disrespect to the dead, but this man has always been overrated among the nerd backpack cac rap base, and at no point in time was Doom ever among the greats of his era, let alone even relevant. A decent but gimmicky artist.

Method Man: It pains me to say this because I do think he's a great rapper with a memorable style but his catalog is sadly terrible. Outside of Tical, Tical 2000 and Blackout Meth has had a very underwhelming career musically. Luckily for him, being a part of Wu helped overshadow his lackluster solo career.

Redman: Similar to Meth, another great rapper whose solo career was vastly underwhelming, although I will give him credit for having 3 classics under his name but towards the tail end of the 90s, he fell off badly and became a gimmicky artist.
I actually agree with all this.

I feel like scarface is the go-2 for people who wanna pretend like they have ever listened to a southern artist :russ:

GZA had one incredible album then fell off so MF hard its unbelievable.

this was a real single.

scarface got a few songs/verses i fukk with
but he never said anything that impressed me

his flow is wack.
his voice sound like he trying to talk while pushing to take a shyt.
only thing about him i like is his delivery

gza to me is really boring
same flow
same voice
same delivery
no charisma
like watching paint dry
