Dior and War got a lot of spins in my gym playlist. Art imitates life... however, rap is more of a commodity than an art in 2020.
It's interesting how in places like NYC and Miami, a lot of these kids on the scene are 2nd generation immigrants. Their parents definitely ain't with the bullshyt. Down here, it's young Haitians claiming to be Zoe.
It's like assimilation into American culture for young black folks is contingent on embracing these elements that are "supposedly" black... yet these labels that are gatekeepers to the culture and who proliferate it aren't even black...
The toxic influence of rap music pales in comparison to systematic elements that influence black youth, but the genre is definitely adversely glorifying our condition. Even though hip-hop has a long track record of fukkery, I'm predicting until the end of the decade before black people en masse are fed up with the bullshyt and no longer fukk with it. The degeneracy is not going to be catchy/appealing forever.
