People starving in the hood with a whole lot less and managing to bury their loved ones with no help whatsoever, fukk this bullshyt. Tru..but whats so crazy about that whole idea is that Stacks said in the "im good" freestyle he used to do verses and not charge cats from far rock for um...(ironic it was one of the last freestyles he ever did too..on the dj clue "legends never die" tape) that makes this verses situation with Chinx so crazy too.
Regarding the go fund me situation, understand Chinx didnt leave a body of work that would generate retail income forever like say Biggie or Pac, even a Big Pun. Hell Big L at least has 2 official lps that will generate residual cash through royalties, sampling, publishing until the end of time..
Cats like Chinx have a catalog of music that is mostly in the form of free mixtapes. His family can't eat off that..people used to be able to sell cds in the street for a cash profit, now a days its harder for new rappers to generate $ like that. You could go on datpiff now and download 80 percent of his discography. Free. He was getting income by doing shows, walk thrus, features etc (things he can't do anymore - there is no left over pension, or compensation package his wife and kids are gonna receive) and that seems to be the #1 route of getting bread for indie artists, cause these labels aint doing much.
I believe he just signed with E1, but he never got a chance to actually drop, so I am unclear how obligated his label would be financially to his fam. Now that hes gone, that show/feature/ etc bread stops asap, thats a tough thing for a family to go thru unexpected.
Chinx was a smart dude tho, he has been had merchandise like hats and shirts etc, so perhaps his family can find ways to still carry his name and eat off what he created.
RIP tho 4 real. Still sad.
