You'd be surprised at the amount of coli posters who think a rapper isn't shyt if they aren't signed to one of these 3 companies

Imagine how that rapper's parents think when the guy is investing in his own product and researching his own marketing plans, etc. Meanwhile if he goes to school to learn a basic curriculum taught by a teacher who is obviously a failed businessman he would be their dinner conversation :smugdraper:

If rappers had good credit they could get a loan and not have to sign the rights of their music away in exchange for small percentage of royalties

50 Cent's existence invalidates the premise of this thread. ..there have been plenty of intra-parent label beefs
I was thinking that too, but there was something off about the 50cent situation.

Like that staged Kanye West beef, remember that.

At one point he was a golden goose. :yeshrug:

And when he left he went to EMI, which is now Universal as well as Warner.

You mean . . when he left Interscope, Universal wanted to keep a stake in him by signing him to another subsidiary as to not lose the value of the initial investments on the brand they built for him? :ohhh:

Does thread also mean that industry rappers are coddled and making their album while not worrying about studio budgets, marketing plans, promotional costs - resources and personnel. Meanwhile independent artists are handling all administrative aspects . . probably sacrificing meals or lifestyle habits to get studio money together and when things are all said and done they use what little bit of resources they have left on promotional costs (if they're smart) . . all while worrying about building a sustainable career

And regional hits ain't shyt compared to mainstream music that was put out by the major industry machine and introduced to all of the proper channels to ensure success :pacspit:

We all know that Mac Dre ain't shyt compared to Biggie . . even though Biggie was a business dummy and sold his publishing for pennies and then through a 4 year career released just two albums that served as glorified single releases for songs that Puffy gave him the vision for. Meanwhile Mac Dre sustained a 15 year career on his own where he had to learn how to market himself and build a record label and put out over 20 high quality releases during his lifetime . . while creating music independently that still to this day is a household staple regionally and used in conceptual reiterations by top industry pop acts like Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Big Sean

So ya . . Biggie is surely ranked ahead of Mac Dre based off his 2 albums compared to Mac Dre's 20 albums . . I mean . . that ad page in the XXL Magazine told me so

Independent artists risk their own financial capitol to pursue a career that isn't promised to them? :gladbron: what dummies

My favorite artist just spent $10,000 in expense budget on his new song . . and also used 5 hours of studio time to roll blunts with the homies :krs: . . and oh ya, food came by delivery . . he wasn't worried about what he was gonna eat that night because he just spent more than half a week's pay in the studio today

Yea, none of this is shocking. if you were in their shoes you'd do the same thing, and that's maintain a healthy wallet. we naturally feel at odd's with it because of the negative effect and influence this brings. but at the end of the day, you can either dig through the over saturation of music and find artists who (regardless of their label affiliation) you support.

Only way to fight it is do what J.Prince, Irv Gotti, Suge Knight and Dame Dash attempted to do but got shut down quickly. the game is most definitely rigged but how do you plan on fixing it when more laws cater to the bigger labels and artists?

lol, shyt is all a hustle.
