Nicki Minaj is easily the bigger artist between her and Future, but Future was more important to the 2010-2020 decade than Nicki. Nicki started that decade strong and then dropped off significantly with the second album. Whole thing was a debacle and was saved by a bunch of Pop hits and "Been In The Trap". She almost squandered her comeback with that Malcolm X cover for her single before Pinkprint. She's had hits, but Nicki hasn't really had anything impactful since her debut. "Bu, but she got a lot of females sounding like her". The fact that she's limited to females speaks volumes. The other four artists that are being argued influenced EVERYBODY regardless of gender. Do people put Lauryn, Missy, Kim, Latifah, or Lyte on Mt. Rushmore of rap simply because of what they did for females?
Her second album made her an even bigger star .

Just because you don’t like her music doesn’t mean you can tell lies .

Some of her biggest songs and features were during the pink print era :mjlol:.

She even made the most money and had her biggest tour during that era .

Y’all talk just to talk .

My fav has out rapped every male rapper she’s ever been on a song with :yeshrug:.

Don’t give a fukk what a nikka got to say .

Her second album did not make her a bigger star. It had some major hits, but it was Dr. Luke Katy Perry cookie cutter songs. "Beez In The Trap" was the song that made waves in Hip Hop. Pinkprint? "Anaconda" was huge, but again, this was still light in terms of impact.

Her second album made her an international super star . This is also when she was on American idol breh be quite you have no idea what you’re talking about .

It doesn’t matter what you think about her music .

Nicki isn’t just a regular rapper that’s what y’all have to remember once you accept that then your minds will be a lot more open .

It doesn't matter how much of a superstar she is. You don't see anybody rushing to place Will Smith on a Mt. Rushmore of Rap do you? He's one of the most successful rappers eve and even has classic rap records, but nobody's putting him on a Mt. Rushmore of rap.

And to take it even further, Missy Elliott and Eve were international superstars too, but they aren't Mt. Rushmore status unless we're talking female rappers.

I agree TI gotta get mentioned but ultimately I think if he never was in the game not much would be different other than the fact he came up with the term trap music
That’s why I can’t put Em in, he sold records but I don’t think we miss anything other than “the best white rapper” if we erased him. well I guess we miss A rapper antagonizing pop stars :skip:

Jeezy represented the streets for the 00’s, successfully, cuz I do think Gucci was right there and had an even bigger influence on Southern rap but wasn’t as commercially successful nor lyrically gifted

I completely forgot about Eminem. I could see an argument, but Eminem spent most of the 00's decade in a limbo. Started off strong with MMLP through 8 Mile. Fell off with Encore, took a five year hiatus and returned with Relapse, but it didn't really impact like that even though it sold 2.5 million copies. "Forever" saved him and that verse was a nice way to cap off the decade he had and was possibly the last time Eminem had a real impact on Hip Hop.

My bad I meant Mt Rushmore of the 2000s lemme edit my post
:russ:

Jay, Kanye, and altho I don’t fukk with him like that Wayne. Fourth spot is Jeezy IMO, he occupies the spot future got in the 10’s - being the street/hood champ. But I could see 50 getting that even tho I wasn’t checking for him after massacre.

Some combination of

jay z

Kanye

weezy

ti

jeezy

Eminem

Em had a whole movie loosely based on his life tho. For better or worse he’s been the measuring stick for every white rapper to come after. I was never a fan of his music but there’s no denying how huge he was and his lyrical ability at that time

He had a movie because he was popular. Again, we could lose the movie and him and not really miss a beat with hip hop. And I’ve absolutely never seen/heard him used as a point of comparison for rappers after. Even the heavyweights drake and cole were getting pigeon holed into the Hov/Nas comparisons. Wayne, Kanye, Jeezy, Gucci even Cam and 50 have all also been measuring sticks/points of comparison for artists in their respective lanes to come after. Kendrick is the only dude where his sphere of influences includes clear points of comparison/takeaways from Em

Nicki ain’t make it cool for females to rap again. She came with new blueprint of what females rappers should look like for labels to cash in/wanna invest in them - which has not been a good thing - but women were rapping before during and after her run, they just ain’t have the sex appeal she came with.

I’m just saying there weren’t any relevant female rappers when she blew during her time.

So basically if we erase Eminem we’re losing 8-mile. A movie where the great white hope triumphs over all the scary black boogie men who profile, harass, physically assault, and yell racial epithets at him strictly because of the color of his skin?

Sign me up for that reality
