Since this has been a hot topic on TheColi as of late, here’s a clip from No Malice from Clipse that I’ve never seen before regarding his take on the matter

Update: Pretty solid, nuanced, balanced article touching on music, poverty, and environment’s affect on humans in general 👇🏾

Facts. I like Malice a lot; good brother. When I was a youth film/shows/music had a tremendous impact on me. From style, speech, and developing thought. It shouldn't be an argument. Go listen to nothing but drill for a week straight and tell me you don't feel negative.

Nobody is selling drugs because their favorite rapper does it. They do it because they're environment doesn't offer much else.
My experience is different. Most of the drug dealers I knew as kids were not piss poor. They were not hustling to keep the lights on. They were hustling to stunt. In the early 2000s that street life was glorified

Truth. But when you got impressionable suburban kids who feel like they gotta act and be like whatever the most poppin' music is promoting, you have a problem. Especially when it's the music from the Chief Keef family tree.

Yes, let’s just eliminate rap, then crime while be WAY down. Not saying rap is the only factor, but the way you guys discuss it on here, it must be a major or leading factor right?! I bet if we eliminated rap music the world would change so much. Because, of course, we did not have violence like that before rap music. Right? The one with more influence has to be rap right? Not the streets. Cause we all know that it’s rap influencing the streets and society and not the other way around. That’s cause y’all actually been in the streets right?

If y’all don’t sit y’all goofy ass down with this tired ass rhetoric
