Decided to go with eight since I doubt many people on here would remember anybody before Carter. Tentatively I'll go with -

Obama
Carter
Biden
Clinton
Bush
Bush II
Reagan
Trump

I might be ranking Carter too high since I wasn't around for his presidency, but from what I know he seemed decent by presidential standards. And yeah, I have Obama at #1, but it's less because I agree with everything he did and more that he was less bad than the competition.

Had a hard time deciding who was worse between Dubya, Reagan, and Trump.

Dubya didn't come off as racist as Trump or Reagan, but he probably got the most people killed with his BS war. Reagan on the other hand was smarter and did a lot of shyt that had negative effects on black and poor communities. Trump on the other hand didn't accomplish as much, but his MAGA garbage completely fukked up US politics and turned half the population into reactionary idiot conspiracy theorists.

OPs list is good, but I'd leave Biden off since we don't know exactly what his legacy will be. I'm also torn on who's the worse between Reagan and Trump. We know what Reagan's legacy was, Trump's looks horrible but we still don't know if in 1 year there will be a complete reset in the Republican party. So Trump's legacy is also TBD.

1. Obama
2. Biden

Obama is the best here but he was somewhat disappointing overall. Biden can overtake him if he somehow protects voting rights and convinces Congress to end the filibuster. Biden's executive actions and Covid relief bill alone have made him better than most of the names on this list.

3. Clinton

You can list a bunch of awful things that Clinton's ideological "triangulation" strategy produced. But, it's the economy, stupid :francis:

4. Carter

His failure to deal with the economic crises of the 70s directly led to the rise of Reagan. He was ill-equipped to deal with the moment. As a result, he threw up the alley-oop for psychotic Reaganites and neo-liberals to dunk on the working and middle class for the next 50 years. And yeah, I know he's a good guy. He just wasn't a good president.

5. Bush Sr.

What did he even do? His four years might as well have been a third Reagan term.

6. Bush Jr.
7. Trump

Trump mainstreamed the worst fascistic tendencies of the Republicans. This is going to have lasting negative consequences. For that, I reluctantly put him as worse than Bush overall. From a world perspective, a million people fukking died in the Middle East, so I understand if people say that Bush is worse. But his actions, heinous as they were, effectively ended the popularity of neo-conservatism. Trumpism is just beginning.

8. Reagan

His destruction of the New Deal consensus is what started this descent into the hell that we're all in. He was the godfather of misery via his ability to synthesize and sell conservatism. Truly evil on multiple levels.

I put Clinton over Obama. he had the economy popping.

That's cool. For what it's worth Obama was handed a dumpster fire of an economy before kicking off the longest bull run ever. His policies also incentived the production and sales of electric vehicles and green energy in general

If Biden can get both these infrastructure bills across the line, he jumps to #1. Obama was ok, not great. (I dont think we've had many great Presidents)

Trump is a vile POS, but he was so incompetent, the damage he did was limited, compared to everyone below them. Reagan set this country on a path of distruction that I dont think we'll ever recover from. He normalized so many of the awful ideologies. Small government, individualism, supply side economics ect. George Bush got us in to wars that crashed our economy. Lots of the housing crash was Clinton's doing trying to appeal to conservatives and running a balanced budget. You could make a case that Bush I was ahead of him. The crime bill, ect.

Carter is 3nd by default. He really did nothing that he ran on. Could have been great but didnt stick to his guns.

Yall got me wanting to do research on Reagan. I wasn't alive for him and don't have too many facts outside of his failed war on drugs. I figure it can't get ANY worse than Trump so color me intrigued. Any documentaries I should check out?
