Unfortunately, Garnett did not play in the Celtics’ 113-99 victory. Garnett admitted it was hard for him to sit out, but it’s even harder for him to play on the second night of back-to-backs, and he had played the day before in Brooklyn.

Is that something to really brag about though?

its kind of a pr spin because he went #2 overall and is not getting the rookie max like Cade, Mobley, Barnes, or Wagner did

This is how team building is going to be like. You have your superstars making $40-60 mil, your starters making $20-35 mil, guys making the mid level exception and then you have a bunch of young guys on rookie deals or minimums to fill the roster out

Yeah it’s going to be more crucial for teams to draft well if they want to reach contention. I think we’ll see bad lottery teams continue to take flyers on young high-risk, high-reward picks, most of whom will bust quickly and flame out while contenders draft more solid 4-year college role players who can contribute immediately like Jaime Jaquez on the Heat.

Wasn't that his final year when he was on the Wolves? He knew he was cooked and retired.

Yes but it started before then

NEW YORK — While addressing reporters during Brooklyn Nets media day on Monday, Kevin Garnett tried to escape for one moment from his defiant demeanor, but he struggled to do so.

Garnett, one of the NBA's greatest competitors ever, was asked what he thought about Jason Kidd's idea of sitting him for both games when the team has back-to-backs. Even though Garnett sounded open to the idea, he admitted that the conversation with his new head coach "didn't go too well."

"I'm just being honest, but I understand what he's saying," Garnett said. "He's trying to make sure I'm durable and make sure that I can get through an 82-game season. I'm totally understanding of what it is. He's not coming at me personally or as a man or anything like that. He's looking to better me, so I'm trying to be receptive to that."

KG never played more games than Wayoff P 75 games in Wayoff season 14. Paul George should be on his way out but is still elite and playing when he is healthy. So these old farts need to stfu

Yeah even teams that aren't contending can't afford to take a risk on a raw project player. The cap will be used primarily on your star player and starters. You need your draft picks to contribute right now. They don't need to be a 4 year player, but they got to be productive.
