I used to think that about Mitchell but I've come around that it's possible for him if everything lines up like Dirk in 2011. Mitchell's always been on teams with minimal offensive talent around him but it feels different with Atkinson as the coach for this Cavs team.

Their biggest question mark to me remains the Mobley/Allen front court. Mobley still isn't shooting threes and I don't care how good they look during the regular season; that shyt isn't gonna fly in the playoffs. If Mobley isn't shooting threes, Allen needs to go if they're serious about contending.

Mobley does shoot 3's, but not a regular clip. He does it within the flow of the offense; he's got a better mid-range shot now which gives Allen more room to operate, and it makes it harder for teams to pack the paint.

Edit: the key to that team is Allen IMO

Teams will live with Mobley shooting middies. We have seen that front court get bullied in the playoffs too. If Mobley doesn't shoot at least five threes at a good percentage, they aren't a real threat.

I'm looking at their schedule and it is an absolute cakewalk until December. Boston is the only team with a winning record they play through November. I wouldn't be shocked if they start 19-1. :picard:

Altho i'd have preferred if his epiphany had come against another team, it does seem like SGA's experiment of trying to spam iso 3s has ran it's course. Simply having the 3 ball as a threat is enough when you're the primary ball handler with a team loaded with spot up shooters.

Granted, without the 3 ball he's never going to have those highs of 50, 60, 70 point explosions like Luka, Tatum, Mitchell etc do... but he also wouldn't have the lows of their stinkers when the 3 ball ain't falling. Hence why he led the league in most 30 pt games last year but only had a handful of 40pt outings.

It doesn’t even need to be at a good percentage. Just be average to not be a liability at it.

He’s managed to become a much better FT shooter this year, so the faith is there that he can do it.

Miami is at a crossroads, they need a soft reset or scorch their Earth. They don't even play with that Heat hustle any longer, even Spo has been off his game over the last 12 months, like a deer in the headlights when he can't stop oppositon teams from going on extended runs.

If they started 19-1, they would almost certainly have the inside track at the 1 seed in the East and home court since a quarter of the season would be over at that point. They're averaging 125 points a game currently and Mitchell hasn't had to shoulder the workload :dahell: :picard:

I mentioned this in either the offseason thread or the NYK/MIN trade thread when the deal went down, but we gotta stop overstating the "bright lights" of New York, LAL, etc

KAT and his charmin personality is whooping ass... 24 & 13 nightly on 16 shots, shooting 51/57/91. That doesn't mean he ain't the same player with the same flaws but dudes was acting like he'd turn into michael olowokandi with a 3 ball once the lights flipped on.

Obviously the outside shooting % will drop but he ain't scared of nothing. What will hold him and the Knicks back is they don't yet have the collective IQ to allow KAT to establish post position after the high PnR runs it's course. He has a great jump hook that he uses maybe twice a game.
