Their pieces don't fit and they fukked up signing that bum VanVleet instead Harden. They have a lot of talented young players but none of them are a #1 option. I don't know how you get a team of young guys all trying to prove themselves into a cohesive system without a ringleader in the group.
They've committed themselves to Green and Sengun with those contract extensions when they really need a consolidation trade.
Harden wouldn't have made any difference.
Sengun isn't a championship-level centerpiece, but he's good enough to form a system around (in similar vein to Sabonis), but Udoka has him on a tight leash, thowing him under the bus at every turn, all after they reupped him to a $185m extension. There's clearly a disconnect there where he isn't been given the opportunity like he should and it's affecting the direction of the team.
You won't get anywhere if your best player is being treated like a role player.
If you watch them play, you can see there's merely a skeleton of an offensive structure in place, without any flesh. There's a whole of standing around where players don't know where to be, and when players do get the ball, it usually results in an ISO (where they rank second-to-last in efficiency). There's a whole lot of talent on that team which isn't being utilized properly, and as much as I shyt on Jalen, he hasn't been given the best platform to play off, which further exacerbates his flaws.
