Randle had the ball with a chance to win at the end of regulation.

McDaniels had the ball with a chance to win at the end of overtime.
That's the whole point. You want the ball in your best player's hand. By running such a basic set it makes it too easy for the other team to trap Ant and force it out of his hands. And at least if that's what you want at least have someone cut to the basket to make it harder for the defense to sit on the other defenders.

I actually think the plan was to let someone else have a shot at it. Edwards has been terrible in these exact situations. It really doesn't help that every time, no matter who it is the plan is for them to dribble around and take a contested shot at the buzzer.

That's what I'm getting at. I have no problem if someone else takes the game winning shot. Draw up a better action to get them an open look instead of the lazy play they ran. Have someone cut to the middle when the other team traps Ant which will force at least one of the defenders to commit inside and then swing the ball to his man. Instead it was just swinging the ball to Randle outside the three point line which no one respects which allows the defense time to rotate back to everybody leading to a contested shot.

Randle's a good enough passer when he wants to be. Run some of GS's action with Randle in the Draymond role. Have him receive the ball at the top of the key after the hard trap and let him play 4 on 3 going towards the basket to generate a look.

And let's not overlook that with the Randle play at the end of regulation, Ant (by design) held on to the ball until like 3-4 seconds left and then made his attack/got doubled, forcing him to pass the ball to Randle with no time to do anything but a step back bullshyt 3... with a tie game.

I get not wanting to give DEN anytime left if there's a miss but if that's the play call, you're better off just giving Randle the ball from jump and have him go 1v1.
