Houston battling to make it to the play-in pushed Golden State to stay on their shyt too. And instead of 3 teams fighting for 1 spot, you still have New Orleans fighting to stay at 6 and not dropping to 7. You have GS trying to get up to 8 to avoid the 9/10.

The Play-In has been successful and working as intended through and through.

None of that is more exciting then 3 teams needing every single game to make the playoffs. The Dubs/Lakers game this past weekend would have done numbers

You are missing the point.

The competition level ACROSS both conferences is higher with this in place. It means fans get to see the main guys playing in games through the last game. With the teams so bunched up this season, teams can't even strategically try and force certain matchups either. There's hella movement that can happen with like 2 games left.

Paying fans also are eating off this too, because you can go to a random game in late March/early April against a 1 Seed and a 10 or 11 seed and all of the stars are on the court playing because the games matter. This was not the case before the 65 game rule and the Play-In Tournament.

I think the fact that the 9th and 10th seeds are actually not bad teams and still were in the mix for the 6th seed helped the intrigue too because I don't think people would really care much about bad teams battling for play-in spots (see Bulls and Hawks in the East)
