Defense is a work in progress, it's being worked on daily through the 82 game season. Their games have come down to the wire with most teams besides the Grizzlies. They can lock in but it isn't consistent yet.
I would agree with you if their defense wasn’t an issue for years now. Fox defense has regressed since his rookie year and Sabonis has never been known for his defense.

Mine Brown was brought in to help improve their defense, but he doesn’t have the pieces to do so. It’s why I’ve said for a while now that Sacramento should get that #1 pick.

It’s been more than 10 games as their defense has been an issue for years now. It’d be one thing if it’s a team like Philly or Memphis who have been good for years on defense, but struggling this season.

Sacramento has been ass on defense for years now, which is the biggest complaint about them.

its a new coach and a young team. mike brown is the best coach they've had there in years and that young core hasn't stagnated. they're not 'stuck' - your argument would work for the knicks or something where their key young guy has arguably regressed and their next core player reminds everyone he's a jackass on a nightly basis.

but either way its unfair to ask the kings to correct their franchise history in less than a month. if the kings just hit league average on defense then they'll be in a good spot going forward.

Where in my comment did I say that they had stagnated and were "stuck"?

The fact of the matter is that their two best players in Fox and Sabonis can't play above average defense and they've been in the league long enough to know that they can't. Mike Brown isn't going to change that as Sacramento just doesn't have the defensive pieces to help mask that aspect.

That's been the biggest knock on someone like Sabonis all this time and why Kevin Pritchard essentially lowkey shytted on him on before he got traded.

You can tell who pays attention to the Kings and who doesn't.
if you're taking a team's first 10 games of the season and holding it up against their history going back years, then what else are you saying other than they're stuck? lmao

the fact of the matter is its been less than a month and its plainly rare for young to learn how to play consistent team defense overnight.

and currently teams with worse players play better defense - its not a personnel issue. you need those pieces to be a *top* defensive team. to simply not be at the bottom? that's not a personnel issue. that whole talking point has got muddled to shyt lately.

You keep saying that they're a young team, but overlooking the fact that a lot of those players on that roster have been in the league for years now. Other than that, I would totally agree with you.

Defense matters in the league whether you and other posters are willing to admit it or not, which is the exact reason why players that can play even average to above average defense are in high demand. Dudes on this site stay downplaying defense, while overlooking the fact that even average to above average defense is enough to have to contending for a play-in spot. That's been Sacramento's problem for years now and I've said that on this site on more than one occasion, so me saying it now means nothing.

Posters on this site use teams history against them so far this season to support their narratives, but now it's a problem. At least keep the same consistency.

they are a young team unless you count barnes, len, and delledova as part of their core or something. why would anyone with sense do that

and i just said that if they play even league average defense then they're in a good spot going forward.

teams with worse personnel play better defense than sacramento as well - so its not wholly a personnel issue with them.

.....how many times are you gonna double back to the 'sac has had this issues for year now' bit? and i've shyt on the kings more than anyone else here for the record lol

The keyword is "if" as a lot of teams have been saying that same notion for years now and even this season. We've seen enough of a sample size of some of the players on their roster to know whether they can play above average defense or not.

Coaching isn’t necessarily going to change that.
