A lot of those guys will be gone by the trade deadline, so it will work itself out. All this does is bumps up their asking price in what they will get in return especially for someone like Lauri and Clarkson.
Highly doubt the league will gift Utah the #1 pick nor will Wemby's team want him there. Lauri might be finally ready, Clarkson can give you 20-30, Sexton might make a leap, Kessler is a good defensive big, etc. If they were tanking they at least should've moved Conley, Clarkson, and probably Gay during the offseason. They still will probably tank when its all said and done but I'm doubt Wemby would be the prize for them

They could still move those players early in the season outside of someone like Conley who might be difficult to move as he's been looking rather old and washed for a while now. Even if they don't end up with the #1 pick, they could theoretically end up with someone like Scoot who wouldn't be a bad consolation prize at all.

A lot of these teams are going to start tanking and moving players early in the season as it will be too late to do so if you wait until the trade deadline to do so.
