I think most expected them to fall off a cliff but they have a bunch of successful college guys who “play the right way” :mjpls:and play their role. They also have a top 5 shooter in the league with Bane. Dillon Brooks is a really good player and JJJ is finally showing he may be worth that contract as well.

As good as Ja is, he’s not really looking to get guys involved in the entire game. He’s like Dame in that sense. Guys gotta get it when they can.

Which is exactly why they’re better off long term with a PG of Tyrus Jones skillset compared to someone like Ja’s.

The problem with this is, free agents of Ja's ability aren't lining up outside FedExForum.

He's still their best ticket to hitting whatever heights they're capable of reaching, otherwise, they're just a nice team whose ceiling is an annual 1st round exit; fodder for actual contenders to feast on. Keep in mind, they're a young team who're still finding their identity, so it's unfair to use this lil' run against Ja and whatever perceived limitations he has, when they could just as easily go on a losing run in the same frame. They were the worst defensive team over the first month, and that's why they struggled for consistency. Their improvement on that end is a combination of: everyone being forced to step up without their Ja, Adams finding his feet as their anchor, Jenkins' adjustments, and a great balance throughout their rotation.

And you may point to Ja's defense, or lack thereof, as a reason behind their recent play, but they were the 6th ranked team on defense last season with him, and while he most definitely needs to improve on that end, it's not like he was pulling them down into the abyss where they couldn't win games on that end of the floor.

Nahhhh I'm not concerned about his lack of defense as they have the guards on the roster to help mask and hide his deficiencies, which is something that a team like Portland doesn't have with Dame. I'd more so be concerned about him coming back and changing up the style of play from what seems to be working right now and instead of buying into it like everyone else is doing.

I ain’t ever seen KAT this hype before. :dahell: got into him tonight
He been acting like that all season

He complains after every call regardless if it’s blatant. Even the Minny announcers have called him out. Obviously the last few years personal & professional (not winning) has shaped him
