If I have a fukked up labrum, surgery or not I’ll likely be out a while. If they were a better team might one try to tough it out? Perhaps, but what would OKC be trying to accomplish by doing that?
Honestly, 17 games left and nothing to play for or gain... so why not start their vacation 2 months early? The checks are still coming in every other week regardless. Not the winning mentality of course (or unfortunately), but the pragmatic one.
Specific to Lu Dort tho... he actually will have something significant to play for next season... which will be the last year of the cupcake contract he's on. So it actually is better to get the surgery now and ensure he has enough time to rehab and get his offseason work in. I doubt he cares about helping the team out with the lottery.
