What can you really get though? Other teams know about these weaknesses too

There were a number of teams during the offseason that needed a defensive center and would've been a good fit for Gobert.

Golden State- Wiggins & #2 pk for Gobert OR Wiggins, GS 2021 1st rd pk, Minny's 2021 1st rd pk(top 3 protected) & 2nd rd pk for Gobert.

New York- Had cap space...Could've traded Gobert to NY for 3 or 4 future 1st rd pks....NY could use a defensive center playing alongside Randle.

New Orleans- Made trade for Adams who's making 27m...I'm sure they would prefer Gobert and would've paid him near max since Zion is still on a rookie deal.

Minnesota- Could use a defensive center playing alongside KAT (see NY with Randle)

Detriot- Had 37 million in cap space...Could've did a sign/trade for C.Wood & multiple future 1st rd pks.

Other teams that needed a defensive center: BKN, BOS, SAC

Not saying any of these teams would've pulled the trigger on a deal, but Utah had options had they chosen to go that route.

NY has Mitchell Robinson on his rookie deal

Yeah, NY, GS, and NO all wouldn't have made any kind of trade for Gobert. NY has mitch, NO has adams and hayes, GS knew they were getting wiseman. BKN has Allen and DJ, BOS doesn't seem to give a shyt about their 5 position.

That leaves detroit, minnesota and sacramento, but except for maybe sacramento, these teams are tanking, I doubt they'd be willing to give up assets for gobert.

GS was in need of a center. Wiseman being available at #2 was no guarantee...I could definitely see GS making a trade (pre-draft) for Gobert.

The Knicks are the Knicks...They have a history of making desperate big splash moves

We don't know what any of the other team would've done had Gobert been on the trading block.

Y'all always talking about teams not wanting a certain player because they already have a young talent at the position or they have/want a big contract....but we've seen the opposite in recent years.

I don’t even think it’s that. Whether this team wins it all will always comeback to their Achilles heel...consistent defensive effort. The same as last regular season & the bubble. They started this game with no effort then clawed their way back into it followed by losing at when the bench came in at the top of the 4th. I like Lue’s offensive approach and they’re sharing the ball. I really like what I’ve seen so far from this team so we’ll have to see once Morris is back
Also a game like this shows that we have been ass cheeks in the drafting department over the past several years. PG didn't play, Morris is still injured but yet it looks like Kabengele isn't panning out -they declined his 3rd year option--Oturu, who they like, isn't ready.. And Mann is a question mark especially on offense. Traded SGA, Jerome Robinson was a wasted pick, and passed on Michael Porter Jr.

Games like this is where a couple of playable improving draft picks helps the team out tremendously. Maybe Jay Scrubb will be their saving grace when his for heals up and he can start practicing

I can’t stand watching Terrance Mann playing basketball. He reminds me of the teenager playing in pickup games with grown men. It’s like he knows if he does too much nobody will pick him for the next run. Super unsure of himself and just running around just to run around. I look at guys like Peyton Pritchard & Lamelo. These guys play like they belong

Having Doc as a coach (and former GM) as long as he was crippled yall prospects. He doesn't believe in the development process and he can and will toss young players into the bushes.

Dude drafted Diamond Stone and when he was asked about how Stone could help his team he said "we like his name". :beli:

True, Doc was a horrible GM for the team but I will admit that even today Jerry West & Lawrence Frank gave been real suspect draft wise. Great at acquiring free agents tho

Well due to doc being coach until now none of the young players got enough run to see who they really are. It was a miracle that he let SGA actually play his game and develop.

If Zubac was drafted by the Clippers he wouldn't have made it as far as he did. :mjlol:

So I say give it a few docless years and we'll see.
