I can see it working better if he does that, because it limits his turnovers (at 5+ per game right now) and perimeter shooting (under 30%), but I don’t think his ego lets him

Not really. I went to the most games live in person as I have since Harden been in Houston last season. Russ and Harden was entertaining as long as Russ played within the offense. His alpha personality overclouds his beta skills. Russ is a winner when he accept the right role. That ending where he waved off Bradley calling for the ball and bricked that wide open three which lead to the runout layup by TLC is the stuff that frustrates you.

i think Russ is the better player. But John definitely seems more complimentary to Harden. That’s what it’s about. Not jsut to Harsen but also I don’t think Russ would help Wood development. Like he don’t get skilled player Wood Durant harden the ball in the spot they need it. He’s good with player who are dependent on shots being created for them like Steven adams or Thomas Bryant or Bertan

Why cant they run high screen and roll and let him finish in the paint? Similar to Spurs when Tony Parker emerged.

High screen and roll with Rui, would have Beal strongside and Bertens weak side with Bryant around to dish to. Seems like an easy offense to employ.

It looks good when he does that. I saw it last year when it worked when we beat the clips Lakers and Celtics. And that was as 1b.

I used to wonder why Harden was so vocal about being the better player of the too. Like when they did interviews together and the interviews would ask about them two growing up and who was better Russ would be passive about answering but James would be of course it was me. I think he was trying to talk and tell Russ that he was number 2 to him when they played together.
