But that's essentially what they're going to have to do with Norman Powell so what's the difference?

I think they thought Norm Powell would help them get out the West THIS season....because everything you said is right, theyre gonna wind up having to pay Powell 20 million + per season to keep him...Which is probably around what Trent Jr is going to get 18-20....Only reason that makes sense is they thought they had a shot this year and a better shot with Powell...

I still don't understand why they flipped Gary Trent. He was serviceable in his role.

They saw the injuries in the West and thought a slight upgrade might get them over the hump this year....Only other thing i can think of is they acquired him knowing he was gonna walk and knew they werent resigning GTJ and decided having that cap room was more valuable to them...

They won't have the cap space to replace him, so they'll have no other choice but to resign him. Now in 2022, they'll have a little wiggle room with potentially only Dame and CJ on the books.

They're going to have to do something as they can't invest bread in both Powell and Nurkic with it not moving the needle like that. That's why moving CJ for something is they're only option. Replace him with a committee of players to equal his production.

Ive said this before they wont get equal value for McCollum...kinda like Raptors and Lowry.

Yeahhhh the league and players might wanna have that conversation in the off-season about reducing the schedule. I know all parties involved don’t wanna miss out on the reduced revenue, but this is getting ridiculous.

Ehhh it’s more of a season long thing rather than an isolated incident. Nearly everyday of games now we’re seeing major injuries.

Something’s gotta give.

I get it but how many of those injuries are freak vs players being tired .

Even if you believe it’s the latter next season won’t have as many games as close together so that wouldn’t matter .

I still would be interested in seeing an injury report compared to prior seasons

The layoff is going to be even shorter next season if you count the Olympics and the fact they’re trying to go back to the 82 game schedule.

I will say this though. A lot of these don’t really have an excuse to complain as half the league didn’t play for nearly a year because of COVID-19.

Add in it’s not like every player is playing in the olympics lol

They def can’t use it as an excuse & the players who can will be given rest
