If one is willing to take the job on the cheap then maybe. Detroit is a rebuilding team, so there's no need to go out and get a big name. Get an assistant on the cheap and go through the rebuilding process.

The Knicks are playing well when you want to be playing well. For these teams to meet it would be in the 2nd round which would mean they already drew blood getting out of the first. Thibs has been through some playoff wars and this will be Nash’s first go. On top of that there is no question who NYC will be behind. I wonder how The Clippers & Nets would handle scenarios like this. Normal fully occupied arenas you can’t control who buys tickets but I would think in a COVID world with limited seating are they going to try and find a way to make sure there teams have fan presence in the crowd? I can easily see Knicks & Lakers fans buying all the available tickets

The two losers will have to go life n death vs each other in the 2nd round, whereas the top seed may have a light path to the ECF

Philly done had that #1 seed for like 90% of the season too.

Agreed, but again let's not kid ourselves like Detroit isn't years away from even being a play-in team. We know these things work and there's no guarantee that Mitchell will be there or even Grant himself will be there to see it through the end.

It's rather dope of why he went there, but let's not act like he's performed well enough to dictate and have input on the next coach. If he balls out and the team is still bad, then they are going to likely move him as they aren't going to want to invest $100+ in a player who doesn't fit their timeline. Don't act or pretend like we haven't seen it happen before.
