Dame too Loyal for his own good.
The media and NBA fans will “applaud” him for being loyal and wanting to “win one in Portland”
Then those same ppl and outlets will use him being ringless to knock him off stature and underrate him after he retires.
Dame won't be underrated because he fails to win a ring. He'll be properly rated because we've seen the ceiling with him, he's a good player, not a great one. He'll get his jersey retired in Portland, but that's about it...
In four years as a #1, he's led the Blazers to getting swept twice in the 1st Round, one embarrassingly as the 3 seed and a heavy favorite. Last year's run to the WCF is as good as it gets with him, you can't win a championship with Damian Lillard...
In four years as a #1, he shoots .397 from the field in the playoffs, averages just 5.9 assists to 3.5 turnovers. He's led the Blazers to a 13-22 playoff record over those four years and a 3-4 series record. His claim to fame is scoring the basketball, yet in 10 of those 35 games he's scored less than 20 points-->Blazers are 3-7 in those games, which means they are still only 10-15 when he hits 20...
He's had a slew of bad games in the playoffs, he's basically a worse version of Harden. He isn't a real #1...
People will applaud his effort and commitment but we also seen #1's go deeper and play better in the playoffs more consistently than Dame, so when he isn't given kudos it won't be for not winning a ring, it will be because he wasn't a "great" player to start with and we saw him melt down in the playoffs too many times...
For the record, I think he shoulda been asked outta Portland, but hey, if he's cool with his legacy, so am I...
Not the greatest but one of.
Name a point guard not named Curry that is better than Dame in the last 15 years?
Only thing holding him back is a ring or two
Lmao what?
15 years ago, was the 2005-06 season. There's too many guys he isn't on the level of, he for gotdamn sure isn't a Top 5 PG of the last 15, and we'd really be reaching to call him Top 10...
He isn't a
great player. He's a
good player with a limited skillset. He isn't a real #1. No way in hell you think Curry is the only point in the last 15 years better than dude...
