I talked to a co-worker about this recently, but looking back, those Steve Nash led Suns team probably could've won a title or two if they played how modern teams do. It's kind of weird to say since Mike D'antoni basically pioneered the way teams play now, but even back then he was still kind of bound by (what used to be) conventional thinking; those mid 2000's would lead the league in 3 point percentage nowadays, but would also have the lowest amount of three's taken too, despite taking the most by far back then.
