We blow leads like Mayweather blows money
This is the problem with most good posters who just so happens to be stans of certain players, they create narritives that either didn't exist at all or that's not all the way trueBut they didn't take Embiid. The Cavs' needs and the Bucks' needs were different. Apples to oranges. Wiggins, Parker and Embiid were all viewed on the same tier. Some people loved Wiggins more, some loved Parker more, some loved a healthy Embiid more. We know what transpired and it wasn't Embiid going #1. You're looking at Embiid through your own Embiid goggles when it wasn't like that. You're treating Embiid like he was the Tim Duncan of the draft and everyone else was an afterthought by comparison. It wasn't like that. You can't keep looking at it that way no matter how much you love Embiid. Embiid WASN'T considered to be a potential #1 pick until late in that Kansas season when he really emerged. Before it was basically Wiggins and we'll see if Parker can make it a debate. Embiid entered the conversation late and took the edge late until he got hurt and since he got hurt, didn't get picked.
Bruh, nobody really knew what Giannis' position was gonna be in the NBA (he's been primarily three different positions in three different years, so they don't marry Giannis to a position so to speak). They DID know they lacked a 4. Enter Jabari.
The Lakers' example is a bad one because they didn't made long term commitments to any of their core members. It's a lot harder to trade Russell if he has a big contract attached to him like Sanders did (and on top of that, the same people who picked Ball DIDN'T pick Russell. It's an easier break.)
You think Philly was doing all that losing to take Embiid first if they had the chance?
